Lots of free aires near Calais - we have never had a problem in them. Sangatte was v quiet and lots of nice people parked there in September - we stayed there on way home- was near the tunnel no issues. There is a large bus park just past the aire used as an overflow moho stop out of season; and a really nice restaurant on the main street about ten mins walk from the aire .

Hi where did you see the info on citi Europe migrants we are there Sunday night thanks

You should be fine af Cité Europe, we use the 3 Brasseurs bar restaurant at the cinema end of the complex. They do good food and there is a happy hour on the beer up to 7 or 7:30 order a normal beer and get 500ml, don't order 500ml or you will pay the full price!
Cheers

Your heading in the wrong direction for the immigrants..They dont present a threat unless they manage to hide under your van and you got fined for bringing them into the uk but as i said your going the wrong way for them.BUSBY.

yeh I get that bit but they dont know that and its all the agro and dicking about if they are roaming about trying to get on board
Ill have a trailer and a motorbike so dont really want them poking about with that

Probably paranoid and being a control freak dont help:D

I believe (although have no personal experience) there's a secure chargeable Aire with EHU near the windmill in Calais. sorry I don't have any more details than that. I can fully understand your concerns, especially with the trailer and bike. worth paying a few euros for piece of mind. Just have 2 less drinks it'll pay for the Aire

Here’s a thought, if you leave the card that indicates your boarding group for the tunnel in your windscreen that may give an indication that you are ”going the wrong way” to a savvy potential stowaway.
Our observations have been that they might equally check the security of doors, bikes on racks etc. After the last 2 occasions, early August and early October we plan to stay at Canterbury or the nice little free aire at Wotten.
I know many will say they’ve not had a problem, neither have we. I just spent a little time watching the car park dynamics and am fully aware of what was going on, as were one or two others.

Happy to pay for some where that is secure
So if I turn up at City Europe on Friday late afternoon and I dont like what I see what and where would you head for?

Cheers

We tried Wissant a at the beginning of November on the way back, it was rammed (as always) they were even parked in the bus lanes. Seen the new aire at Sangatte on campercontact so thought we would have a look, loads of room only 6 vans on, we stayed there no problem peaceful night, will definitely use again and, only 5 minutes from tunnel.

Well im half way to Benidorm
Should arrive Monday
Still not booked a site sitting here in the MH looking at a few

El Torress
Villasol
Villajoysa
Plus a few others

Got a couple off weeks down there

Would like somewhere where I can walk to a few places for food and drinks etc

Somewhere which has some life to it

But classy!!!!

Any suggestions

Montreuil is not more than an hour from Calais, nice aire and bars and restaurants 5 minutes away.
Not at the moment, its full to the brim of travellers and they look settled in. Theres a nice gated woodland aire 7km from Montreuil 10 euros including electric.

Just got back from camping Roca, a couple of bars immediate outside the entrance walk into town or number 10 bus.

Another vote for 3 brasseurs. The food area stays open late in the centre

I’m thinking el Torres for a few nights to see what it’s like but will I’m down in the area for a couple of weeks would like to try the others get a feel for when I’m back in January.
