Good evening all, we’re finally allowed to view and inspect our van, hopefully tomorrow. It had a full diesel tank at beginning fo lockdown, will we have to be worried about it doing whatever diesels do when laid up for extended periods? I’m more concerned at rodent damage to be fair, dead battery etc But if possible that no damage we thought we might take it for a drive.

We had access to ours on Saturday.
No mice in van but starting battery dead had to fit a new one. Habitation battery seems ok though.

No problems with diesel - but check the tyres

brakes will be rusty and clutch might be stuck together.

Ours hasn't been used since September 2019. I started the engine and had it out of the garage in march to do a bit of work but apart from that it hasn't turned a wheel. We never use it between September and April anyway and it starts on the button 😎👍

Welllllll, it’s as we left it, clean and not a whiff of being left dormant for 3.5 mths Or that mouse pee smell either, phew. Batteries were good, we changed to lithium last summer, with battery master and inverter. (VanBitz). Lithium hadn’t discharged at all 100% when checking on app. That’s also with the batteries being disconnected from the solar panel due to it still being in winter at close down and we were advised to if charging when temp below 5 degrees. Van started on first turn of the key! All those sleepless nights worried about the whole shibang. Going to take her out next Monday for a good run and bbq, weather permitting, We live in Wales and we’re allowed to access, but still no overnighting allowed. The campsite is to open on the 13th so us storage payers were allowed the additional time from today to access. Had to book a time slot and allowed no more than an hour.

Head to England lots open and they are even letting us Welsh in 😊

I got mine out yesterday, after 8 months in storage, cab battery discharged and it was jump started so its damaged and will be replaced. I also change the oil after every winter storage as no way am I running 2 year old oil that has been sat about for 2 winters. Last year I also changed my lifetime gearbox oil for the fully synthetic version which has transformed the gearbox.
