While waiting to collect my van, I was doing some research on filling the water tank, people often mentioned hose falling out and spraying water everywhere!

So I was considering a hose adapter that wouldn't to the tank, so no need to hold the hose at all,
see here: Amazon product ASIN B00LZ12FSS
However, it does not look like it would work with my water tank as it does not have a bayonet but a screw connection!

Does anyone know where I might find what I am looking for but for the Burstner specific tank connection?

No problem

Before you think I am being sarcastic, I abandoned hoses years ago. Actually I do carry a short length for rare occasions when I can stop by a tap. The normal hose connector will usually fit the filler and hold itself in...

If the hozelock type adapter wont fix into the opening then I find it easier to have have a bare end on the hose and insert it with a screwing action!! into the fill hole. Once its gone in few inches it will stay they on its own.
Never seem to find room in the back locker for a watering can
Standby for the mis-constructions!!

Robster, had one of those for my campervan, doesn’t fit my Bürstner unfortunately.

current method I use is to stuff the hose in the tank and then wedge it slightly behind the opened door to the (water tank and Truma drain) cabinet which holds it nicely in place. Mine came with an overflow piece that throws the water clear of the moho when full up / overflowing.

Will be watching this with interest in case you or anyone find a decent hose connector that screws on to the Bürstner

cheers!

Funnily enough, last thing I was given before I drove away was the plastic price you mention for throwing the water clear of the Motorhome!!!

would still prefer to find a better solution! :)

I have an Ixeo Time Sovereign 745, 2016 vintage.

The water tank is behind a locker door and has a simple screw cap, which leaves a largish hole for the hose, no way I see it staying in place while filling!

all the versions I looked at had a kind of bayonet fitting.

It’s the connectors you need as well to attach to taps there are 3 sizes in use they are available from any hardware shop and either end of your hose have a male and female hoselock connectors after you have filled up make sure the hose is empty then curl up and join the two ends together then no leaks in storage

He Newfie, some of this adapters look quite promising.

I will try and measure mine tomorrow and see what comes closest to my size!

many thanks for the pointer.

Cheers Newfie - order placed! ?

Tip of the day:
If you put a cable tie round the hose where it goes in the hole and snip it to leave a 10mm bit sticking out it will stop the hose coming out ?

This is my way of holding the hose in the tank inlet, its basically a coat hanger hook pushed into a small hole in the pipe, cable tied and then gaffer taped - the hook just slips in the channel of the inlet and stays there.

Ditto.
Lyseo harmony here.
Screw fit also, bought the universal one, it doesn't fit.

Is it not possible to just hold the hose in the filler inlet?

Only if you are right next to the tap so you can turn it on/off as required ... or have VERY long arms. :giggle:

On the odd occasion I have used a hose I cinch it in my hand before turning it on then release it when in the tank.

I got this one and fitted pipe on it to spot water coming out.
And use elbow to take pressure off fitting

Chamois leather, soaked and softened.

Poke the hose end into the filler hole.

Wedge in place with the Chamois leather.

Once filled us the soft, wet leather to clean vehicle lights, wing mirrors, windows and reversing camera lens.

... and if you don't quite get it right you get an early shower!

Here’s a cheaper price for the same type of cap:

Never realised it so difficult to put water into a tank........
