We have recently bought a new Adria MoHo based on Fiat Ducato. The paperwork refers to a Warranty Certificate thats supposed to be in the Info Pack... I cant find it anywhere so Im guessing this is something thats gone digital?

The MoHo dealer told us that the Fiat Warranty and registration of ownership with Fiat Professional (Camper Assist) would automatically start as part of the purchase process but we might want to check after a month or so. Has anyone got experience with this? Everything is pretty vague on the Fiat Professional website... MyCamper, MyFiatprofessional, Mopar.

You may find that fiat will ask for your v5 for the registration date when you take it in first time. That's what happened to me.
You can look up your chassis number on the fiat website if its registered.

When I took my Adria in to Fiat for an engine fault the first time, they asked to see V5 and all was fine thereafter. Am sure you ill have no problems. Fiat website is not very helpful.

You need to review if you are going to want to purchase the extended Fiat warranty to all of this. Yes more money but you have to decide if you are going to take this out within the first 7 days(it maybe 14) but you must crack on and make your mind up as I understand that once you go over the date you cannot then purchase it

Just checked on the Fiat Professional website and there is no mention of this. It says standard warranty is 2 years with 3rd year offered by dealer, with the exception of Ducato based motorhomes, which just have 24 months. I am reading this incorrectly?

Okay so that web page is dated 2015 and I tried to follow the link to find out more and it gave an error 404. So is it still a current offer?

When we purchased ours in 2018 it cost £860 for an extra 3 years so 5 in total, also includes breakdown cover. Sorry the link will not work. But pretty sure the extended warranty is still available. If you get no joy from your dealer ring fiat in Italy they speak English and are helpful.

It used to be 24 months if non-UK convertor and 36 months if UK converter however that was reduced to 24 months for all a couple of years ago with the option to add an additional 3 years extended warranty.

Okay, I have since spoken with Camper Assist, who were actually very frank with me about the fact that converters and dealers do not actively promote the 3 Year extension (because there is no revenue for them) . In my case the van was registered on Sept 1, and I would have needed to register by the 15th of that month, obviously now too late. They did re-assure that (1) the 3 year road side assist is valid as long as serviced by a Fiat dealer and (2) in case of major breakdown they would "honour" potentially on a goodwill basis. Further they advised that one could obtain extended warranty with a third party insurer at the end of the 2 years, but obviously not with Mopar, their own insurers. I does all seem very disconnected!

Indeed when we bought our Carthago no mention from the dealer was made about sorting out an extension. I understand the likes of Traveleorld and other dealers who have a built in mechanical workshop thus carry out Fiat service then push the product.
I woukd love to see a massive banner on the forum bringing the warranty position to the attention of members looking to buy new Fiat based Motorhomes so they are aware of the time scale that the product has to be bought

You need to weigh-up the costs for servicing by FIAT Pro for free roadside assist vs 3rd party servicing plus 3rd party roadside assist.

2) in case of major breakdown they would "honour" potentially on a goodwill basis.
And, most likely, have to have a FIAT Pro servicing history.

MB&G are the usually suspects promoted by dealers however you need to read their T&Cs very carefully as they can be quite restrictive. https://mbgdirect.com/

Which just goes to show how little most dealers care about their customers. Presumably they get commission on insurance warranties sold as a poor alternative after 2 or 3 years. I extended my Fiat warranty at the time of purchase but I asked for it having read about it on this forum, no idea whether the dealer would have promoted it otherwise.

I enquired about why Fiat only allowed such a short period to register the extended warranty. Apparently it is because of onerous financial regulations that apply if the warranty is not seen as part of the original purchase but sold as a separate item.

When we purchased our Fiat based Hymer the dealer had no clue they should register the van for Fiat warranty, they also did not understand the extended warranty. It meant that dealers could see our MoHo had been manufactures but not yet sold which meant if we broke down there would be no warranty cover. I called and spoke with the Fiat Professional help desk they were brilliant in explaining what the warranty and extended warranty was. They put me in touch with Simon potter at Adams Morey (Fiat professional) one call to Simon and everything was sorted. 02392 627209 just remember if it’s a new vehicle as others say it’s time limited to get your warranty so speak with Fiat professional and Simon if you want it.

Yep, bought ours from Highbridge, absolutely no mention of extended warranty options - wish we'd have known. I found out about 10 weeks after buying ours, Fiat Italy didn't want to know by that stage. Up to a month or so & they might accept it.

Ditto. I also recall discovering that I needed to register the MH myself with Rapido after collection, to get their warranty. Never that that problem with a new car. By the time I enquired with the local Fiat Professional dealership (during the first recall) it was too late and anyway the service manager (at Simonstone, that later went bust) said they didn't recommend the extended Mopar warranty. All in all, poor customer service.

Wish we had known about an extended warranty. A couple of months outside of our 2 year warranty and we have major engine problems. This is going to cost at the moment in the region of £6000, if they don’t find anything else 😩

Our Dealer told us they would sort out registering the van with Fiat…..they didn’t. Luckily our local dealer did it once I’d produced my V5C to them, so they could do the filter sensor fix.

The Dealer also said we didn’t need the Fiat extended warranty as they were extending it to 5 year’s themselves as part of the deal, using a RAC extended warranty. Wish we’d have gone for the Fiat and paid…….the RAC as so many conditions, including a maximum of £48 per hour labour and limited costs of parts etc……it’s rubbish.

Whatever your dealer tells you, double check it yourself. (y)

Ouch! Bad news.

If(?) you could claim the costs from the dealer who failed to inform you properly at the time of purchase then they might all start doing their job properly.

I bet you paid for that weak warranty somewhere in the deal and the dealer got some commission.

I’m sure it was factored in somewhere. However, although we picked the van up in September 2020, it was ordered pre COVID so got it (including all the fitted extras we ordered) for about £8k less than list price. The price now would have been way too expensive for us. 🤷‍♂️

your warranty is from the date of first registration with DVLA (AFAIK) and not to with when you register with FIAT. I never registered with FIAT and when I went to claim a warranty issue all the dealer did was check the VIN number on the system and we were go to go

We can all talk about warranty claims one way or the other. Its a choice when buying if you want it. What is clearly going amiss is being told by a motorhome supplier that the extension to the two/three year warranty is available. I have my feelings that dealers are not mentioning this option as like any prospective buyer we will try and get the cost thrown in the deal. So a £800 option for the price originally negotiated. So I think the message needs to be out there to any fellow new buyers that this option is there and needs to be decided upon within the 15 day window

Not sure this is true in terms of Fiat systems, our MoHo was registered with the DVLA yet the Fiat professional garages ( I went to more than 1 ) could not see the MoHo warranty had been started as the MoHo has to be registered on their system. In your instance the Fiat dealer checked the registration date ( not the same as the sale date as dealers pre-register vehicles which can sit around for months which would eat in to the warranty period). So whatever happens when buying a new vehicle make sure the warranty is registered with the manufacture

I think its fair enough to play safe and register. However this is what is says on the website. I always assumed 1st Registration was when it got a registration plate.

Oyour warranty is designed to take care of your vehicle, from the date of it's first registration throughout the period of ownership right up until the date of expiry.

Enjoy the utmost driving pleasure at the wheel of your vehicle!

With our WARRANTY, you have a comprehensive service with the repair or replacement of the defective part, its labour time and the supply of the necessary consumables for 24 months, with a further 12 months Retailer Warranty, from the vehicle's first registration date.

We also protect your car from manufacturing defects that concern the paint. We repair your vehicle to eliminate the verified defect, according to the standard conditions of manufacture. This service lasts 36 months, from the vehicle's first registration date.

Our dealer based in Nottingham mentioned the Fiat warranty and gave us all the details to register for the extended warranty. They are a Fiat professional dealer so i guess it win win for them .

3 years is for cars.

Motorhomes have a 2 year warranty, with optional extra three years. (y)

My wife bought our MH, then went rapidly down hill with Cancer And passed. I contacted Fiat to ask if in these circumstances we could have the extended warranty time limit wavered. It was an unequivocal NO The time period constraint is ridiculous IMHO
