Fiat Ducato Chausson
Any help would be massively appreciated here. Our Chausson 656 is completely dead, won’t turn over, no lights not a flicker of life. Trickle charged battery and that shows charge on the charger, but put back into van and still nothing and on the panel in living space it shows that battery still has no charge….
Also to note, key fob didn’t work and battery changed in that and still doesn’t work.
Have checked fuses and battery connections and they seem ok.
Meant to be going to a festival in 2 days - any help would be awesome thank you!

Is this the starter battery?
Do you have a voltage reading for it?

Thanks for reply :)
Yep it’s starter battery (under the passenger seat) reading was 13.2 volts…..having it load tested tomorrow

If you have a meter as said above check the voltage of the engine battery. If that is 12.7 + ish all is fine.
Then check from the earth terminal to the body earth cable is not broken.

Starter battery ?
When was it last run, you need to check the voltage of the battery with a multimetre on the terminals

:welco:

Measure the battery voltage and if it stays up while trying to start its probably a problem with the immobiliser.

Thanks everyone. It was last run months ago (I know I know, stupid)
I’m also not very knowledgable about this stuff so you’ll have to bear with me please!

Thanks all - my mates taken the battery to get load tested first thing so if thats not it I’ll look at the other suggestions - thanks very much all :)

If the battery has been thoroughly flattened for an extended period, it'll be dead. You may find it appears to charge and it'll even show a healthy voltage immediately afterwards. But as soon as any load is put on it, the voltage will plummet.

Not sure what year but older vans had bootlace earth leads. Replace and add a new one from neg post to engine block and to complete the plan a new one from gearbox to inner wing. Any chunky exposed bolt will do.

Make sure all fuses are good, not just look ok, especially the big ones attached to the battery terminal

Assuming it's a Fiat based 656 the starter battery is not under the passenger seat it's between the driver and passenger seats in the cab floor.

Is the battery under the seat or in the floor? Our fiat battery is under the floor between the driver and passenger seat.

Sorry yes it was. It’s a joint effort between me and the husband and we’re not communicating very well

It’s only 2018…..thank you though

thanks - hoping this is it and we can just replace. It’s having a load test ASAP so fingers crossed!

Have you tried measuring the voltage at the jump start point under the bonnet and a chassis or engine earth?
