Hi everyone. I’m new to this group.
long story but here goes.
I reported that the Bluetooth mic on my radio wasn’t working 2 weeks after we picked it up brand new.
I can hear the caller but they can’t hear me when I’m talking on the phone.
the dealer has not done anything to help us. Now that it’s out of warranty they say they didn’t know about the problem. This is unbelievable as ice called them twice a week, but no one comes back to me.
I just want to get it sorted. I pulled the radio out yesterday and there isn’t a place to connect an external mic, so it must be built in. Can anyone help as I’ve had enough.
thanks in advance.

I have had the exact same fault with the same age pegaso. I even had the radio changed but made no difference. and because the motorhome dealer changed the radio and not Fiat we lost the radio warranty. In the end fiat said it would never work as there was no mic fitted even though we told them it was working when we picked it up new. However the wiring for the mic was behind the fuse box. They fitted a new mic and it has worked ever since. It picks up alot of static but I got fed up of hitting brick walls at every turn so it does for how often it gets used.

Thanks so much. Was it the same radio as I can’t see where the mic would go into. I’ll have a look behind the fuse board. I’ll go on the hunt tomorrow. 🤙

Yes it’s the same radio as yours. I couldn’t find a jack socket for the mic either. But then I was told it’s wired into the main multi plug. But that’s fiat speak so it could be a lie.

That’s a great help. Thank you. I’ll be taking a look at this tomorrow. 🤙

Can you post a picture of the label on the unit? Should be able to find a full pinout for the unit then.

Hi mosie whilst I can see the label unfortunately it's not readable from the angle the picture is taken. If I can get the make/model etc from the white label on the top of the unit then we can probably get the full pinout details which should confirm which pins are for the mic and what colour leads.

Hi mosie Taking a look at these pictures this unit uses a mopar uconnect plug. Can't find a Fait X250 specific one but they are fairly standard across the group. Looking at the label itself pin 39 & 40, are the external mic but these could be the - & + (39 & 40) for hands free mic 2 as most of these which have hands free use mic on pins 29 & 30, - & +, but have additional connections for a 2nd mic on 39 & 40. This link is the various pinouts on a Mopar UConnect from a Fiat 500, some of which had the identical head unit as you have. http://connectors.dcctools.com/details.htm?id=202975

It might be worth putting it into Engineering Mode to check if the radio thinks it's got a microphone attached. To do this, press RADIO + MEDIA + BROWSE button at the same time for around 8 seconds (you may need to have the ignition on for this to work). Then scroll down and select the 'Conn Eng Menu' and then scroll past your phone connection details to probably the last page. When done, to get back to normal you can press Radio+Media+Browse again or just power off and back on again.

A common problem with Bluetooth not all phones are compatible with all stereos, have you tried a different make phone, if that works it will be a compatibility problem. My current phone won't work with my Clarion stereo my last one did.

mosie I think this menu just confirms that the microphone is physically disconnected from the radio (or not present at all). Once connected, I think it would automatically appear 'connected' in this menu. Have you been able to trace the wiring and identify the mic cable?

Thanks for that. Can’t trace the mic cable at all.

Just depends on what van you have. If you have a class it’s just under the reverse monitor on the right hand side. If you have a van with a cab front I’ve seen them on the A pillar.

Unfortunately not one on my 740 pegaso. I’m lost now but thanks everyone for your help. I’m giving up and just won’t use the phone whilst I’m driving.

Thank you. Fiat told me that they pulled the dash apart and there was a no mic attached. This was last October. They charged me but I can’t see that any part of the dash has been off. They might have pulled the radio out and made the assumption there was no mic attached. So I contacted the roller team factory in Italy. Used google translate. They came back to me about February this year and told me that I shouldn’t be contacting them. Although the. An was still in warranty until the 21st feb. I was told to contact the dealer. I do and they came back to my mate last Friday and told him that they knew nothing about it. Although I told them after the Motorhome was just 2 weeks old. For some reason they came back to my friend as he’s been buying spares etc from them for years.
they then informed him that they couldn’t help further as the camper was out of warranty. You can see I’m just so fed up, especially that I’ve not been able to work for the last 2 years due to ill health.
really appreciate all you’re help.

I feel your pain. But if you decide to have another look sometime in the future and come across the wiring just message me and I will send you a mic as I have a spare one here.

thanks very much. So I need to find the wiring that I could plug the mic you showed in. I’ve sent the Roller team factory anther email with a photo of the factory handover check sheet when it was new. It has a tick next to mic fitted and tested. Which obviously wasn’t as Fiat have said there’s not one in the van.
As you said if they could just tell us where the wiring is and I could buy the mic off you.
can you believe it that main dealer and Fiat don’t want the bother. It’s been great getting you’re input and the help has gone a long way.
thanks everyone

You’d be glad to k is. I e managed to push some new cables in to the iso bloc but the mic I’ve got from Halfords is t good enough but at least I can be heated faintly.
could I buy you’re spare microphone please. At least then I know I have a quality mic.
