Just had a newcam belt fitted and apparently the cambelt on this engine does not drive the water pump so this does not need replacing during cambelt change I wonder how many people pay for a new water pump when not needed.
Depends how good the garage is I suppose.

Since 2012 but longer in my dreams
I thought it did as I had it changed when I had the belt changed last year.

You may have had it changed but I think the point is did it need changed ?
My 2004 had the cam belt changed but the garage told me the water pump belt didn't need changing. I have used them for the past 20 years and they've always done right by me .
Last year when I needed new Camping tyres for the van they matched my cheapest internet quote and didn't charge me for disposal of my old tyres.

2.8 engine has a separate water pump belt, the 2.3 engine's water pump is driven by the cambelt
