Does anyone know the fiat part number for the uprated wheels so I can go to 2700kg on the back axle of my carthago for this type of wheel

Yes I saw that but it doesn't say what the wheel is rated at, if it's the same as the standard ones like on mine now they are only 1250kg each I have been told. I need the extra heavy duty ones so I can upgrade to rear air new wheels and tyres and go to 2700kg on rear axle

Can I ask who told you that? Are there even such things as ‘extra heavy duty’ Fiat alloy wheels? Presumably your van is on the Ducato Maxi chassis with 16 inch wheels. If you have original fit Fiat alloys then they are capable of taking the load you want. Our van was uprated to 2750kg on the rear axle, with air suspension and increased load rating tyres.

As Lanerboy says standard Fiat 16" alloys are rated at 1250 kg so if uprating the axle to over 2500 kg you must change the wheels (& tyres).

They come on the van as standard normally like Lanerboy & my mates Carthago has them.

Further info as far as I'm aware Fiat branded rims are not available above 1250 kg if you want OEM rims you have to buy Iveco rims or otherwise aftermarket ones. Normally when doing the upgrade people fit a set of 4 aftermarket alloy rims as this is normally the cheapest option.

I went through all this with Techno soon after we got the van. It was impossible to get a load rating for the wheels even from Fiat themselves. I learnt from him that if the wheels are original they have to be capable of taking any load rating of tyre that will physically fit on the rims. It is after-market alloys that have to provide a load rating.

It was Mick at SAP that told me I need to upgrade the wheels and I checked with svtech and they confirmed I needed to send them the no's off my original wheels to see if they are ok or not and although I have not done that yet they said it was doubtful they would meet the correct load rating if standard fiat rims

According to a member on the carthago forum 1250kg is the highest load rating fiat do on there wheels and to get to 2700kg on back axle I will need to fit after market wheels ????????

I think that would be a very iffy way of determining load rating, I certainly wouldn't want to do that and risk a cracked rim.

I asked fiat at the dusseldorf show what the load rating was for a fiat oe steel wheel. They wouldnt or couldnt say, only it was sufficient for the axle load as it left fiat.( There were no back wheels as it left fiat......alko chassis )
We have since uprated to 2750kg on rear axle and still have the fiat original steel wheels.

I am not sure where they got the info from. But, given that SV Tech are the leading experts on getting motorhome weight upgrades and SAP are one of the most popular UK company for fitting full air suspension to motorhomes, I suspect that they are more likely to be correct than not.

Only ones I can find are goldsmichtt ones and are expensive, not really sure it's all worth it too be honest it seems a very expensive way to gain 200kg on the rear axle with air suspension, new wheels and tyres, svtech etc I might just carry a lot less fresh water and save a few quid as I still had 60kg spare on the back axle with full fresh water tank at 170 lts so could increase that by carrying say just 40 lts

I find hard to believe you would just update without being completely certain of the wheel load rating. Sound dangerous to me, I know there is only a small chance of a wheel failing but if it does it could roll the van

I tried to get the answer from fiat but failed. As others have found you have to get a dvla authorised engineer to agree the upgrade, which I did. They were happy to sign off with original fiat steel wheels.

As long as it was SV or equivilant and not JR who will do whatever you ask without checking properly.

Don't know but aftermarket steels are often lower rated. When looking for a spare I found they were only rated at 1000 kg.

Specifically asked SV about this who advised OE steels are suitable. Problems come with alloys.
