Mick at SAP can put you in touch with someone who can supply 4 wheels with tyres for £1200

Yes I spoke to Mick and told me he could supply them
But
Wheels and tyres 1200
Vb rear air 2100
Svtech 350

So just under £4000 to gain 300kg gross weight and 200kg on the rear axle seems a bit steep and hard to swallow for me personally, not ruling it out but going to see how I go next year with a bit more planning and not carrying stuff I never use

How near to limit are you?
My mate with his E Line was near the limit on the rear & the gross. SV wouldn't do the upgrade without new rims & tyres.
He had plenty of spare on the front axle so I suggested he contact JR and get him to uprate just the gross to a total of the two axles to 4800 kg which he did (SV wouldn't do that). He did that and with the large double floor storage area he could move stuff forward and run with a ½ full water tank and still be under the axle limits. Only downside, a full 230 Lt of water will put him over on the rear axle.

I have a 2018 build carthago c line which is plated at 4500kg so a good payload

I went to France last year with everything I could have possibly needed and a lot of what I didn't ?
I had about 200kg spare on the gross weight and 60kg spare on the back axle this was with 100% full fresh water so 170lts and fuel tank brimmed too.

So I could cut back on the crap I took on that trip and carry say 50lts of water and still have enough free to carry a scooter ????

What I think I will do is load the MH up with everything put 50 lts of water in then fill some 25ltr drums to about 170kg and put them in the garage where the scooter would fit and go and weigh both gross and both axle weights to see where I am at

What do you all think of this idea would it work to give me peace of mind before I spend on a scooter????

Sounds like a plan.
You have a lot of underfloor storage I would look at moving stuff forward and you may be able to do what my mate did. Uprate to 4800 but leave the axles the same.

Until recently, I had a 2017 4.9T and my weights fully loaded were similar to yours, with the back axle less than 100kg under the limit. I could never shift enough weight forwards to use the front axle capacity. Why don't manufacturers put the water tank between the floors at the front, rather than over the back axle? that would help.

My last Hymer had the water tank behind the rear axle I always on the limit on the rear axle.
Current Hymer the water tank is in the cente of the van and it's impossible to overload the axles.

I had a 2012 Hymer B614 a while ago and the water tank was under the lounge area. Loading the boot too much would still overload the rear.

I thought the 514 was a single bed across the rear I would have expected it to light at rear but does depend on wheelbase and overhang.
Our van has a long wheelbase 4.4 metres and short overhang.

Yep, he bought new wheels & tyres.
Did he? I’ve found his thread now.

https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...-and-weight-upgrade-completed-to-plan.207112/

He only mentions fitting air suspension and new tyres. And his photos include one of a Fiat original fit alloy wheel.

Now arrived home, drop down bed issue work carried out by Lowdhams this morning, motorhome drives like a dream and more importantly fits perfectly on my driveway, all tucked up now ready for July next year (y)

Engineers report received today together with new DWC at 4,850kg giving me a payload of 1,422kg 400 more than required but useful all the same. The upgrade required the fitting of air suspension and new rear tyres with a load rating of 121.

I also fitted new Al-Ko corner steadies as I have an overhang of 2.4mtrs, but to be truthful having used the van over the last few days and weekend I didn't notice any movement when in the very back, handy to have and not concerned about the extra 10kg as I have loads of payload.

I hope this is useful if anyone else is looking at doing the same, there is another post on the DVLA upgrade thread elsewhere on the forum which is similar to this one, that thread is useful in that it details what is required by the DVLA for the upgrade too be added to the V5C.

fiat maxi minibuses are usually 4 tonnes on the normal steel wheels
It's the axle weight that is important my van is 4500 kg on standard wheels, not a problem if you only want the rear axle loading to be 2500 kg.

And the source of that photo, please? Or a link?

It was from a memer on the carthago facebook page that looked into uplating his eline and found this info out regards the wheels and load ratings, this is why the Carthago liner for two if plated at 4800kg and not 4500kg has different wheels from the factory

But then you’re back to what is the actual load rating of those wheels? Where did that figure in the photo come from? It wasn’t from Fiat. By all means go ahead and change your wheels but I suspect the ones from Fiat will be just as strong if not stronger than any after-market ones.

Out of interest, which wheels are fitted to the 4800kg Carthago at the factory?

BTW, did you ever manage to get in touch with 596 about his weight upgrade?

These are the wheels fitted to the carthago from the factory on the liner for two if plated at 4800kg from the factory it is a wheel made by borbet at 1450kg if my wheels were strong enouth then do you not think Carthago would use them, they use my wheels on a liner for two plated at 4500kg but not the ones at 4800kg
