We have a Fiama 2 bike carrier fitted on the back of our MH, the carrier has a payload of 60kg. We are just in the process of buying 2 new electric bikes which will have a combined weight of just under 50 kg. Now I understand the carrier will carry 60kg however I have concerns about the actual strength of the back wall on the van.
Option 2 is fitting the bikes in the garage however in order to do so I would have to remove the front wheels and build a carrier. I have also concerns over security when the bike are on display so I think the internal option may be a better option.
What weight do you carry on your bike carrier?

We had a similar situation and would not carry that weight on the back. The figures that you quote are for the dead weight and do not take into account the effect of going over humps and potholes. We went for a towbar mounted rack for electric bikes. After a change of van we now carry them in the garage

We were worried about the strength of our back wall so I mounted our rack on Fiamma Carry-Bike Reinforcement Fixing Bars to spread the weight across the back wall.
I managed to utilise the existing mounting holes on both bars and also fixed into the outer edges of the back wall on the top bar which are very solid.

how about putting the one bike minus battery on the rack, and the other in the garage. i carry one E bike minus battery on the bike rack, i turn the handlebars parallel to the frame and fit it as close to the van wall as i can.

But i agree 2 x ebikes could be a bit of a problem waitting to happen..

We fit our Fiamma bikerack ourselves and used extra large 200mm x 100mm, 3mm thick stainless spreaders on the inside. The lower ones in the garage and the uppers inside bedroom cabinets.

The rack is rated at 55kg.

We load our electric bikes, minus batteries, AND for weight and security, the seats and pillars. This reduces weight by about 8kg overall and take the weight down to slightly over the weight of two conventional bikes. Batteries plus seats are stowed inside the MH as far forward as possible. We have a bit of tape on the seat pillars to refit them to the correct height. The handlebars are turned through 90° and locked in that position so that the two bikes sit snugger towards the back of the MH.

Been to the south of Spain and back, touch wood, no problems.

You must be very strong to load 22kg bikes at waist height onto the rack
