I'm an oldbie MH number 10
I have decided to pain myself at the Ironman Portugal event in Cascais Portugal in November. I have two plans, one is to take a couple of weeks off and drive down do the event and meander back.

But I would like to go on the ferry to Santander and Back that way.

However, when booking I have two problems.
Firstly, the dog, there says there are no dog friendly cabins available. In this case what happens with the dog for 24 hours?
Secondly, the return ferry I want is in November. But there appears to be no sailings in November. Do the ferries just stop in November? or is it a case of the prices and sailings are not just up yet?

Hi, dog ferries are very limited, And so are the ferries due to the height of the van think there are only 10 Dog friendly cabins, There might be the option of a kennel on the boat.
They do sail in November however the bookings aren’t allowed that far ahead till Mid July I think.

we have tried for 4 years to book but you have to be very lucky to get a dog friendly cabin, so we go via tunnel.

As said dog friendly cabins get snapped up ( ! ) very quickly and you need to try as soon as Winter bookings open. There are also kennels and an exercise deck. You can try Bilbao as well. If anyone on here takes a dog on Brittany Ferries maybe they can give you a heads up at the time (y)

Thanks guys, so if there are no dog cabins you are saying there are kennels for the dog. Can you then go down and see and walk them?
do you have any idea when they open November bookings? I am thinking, drive down via dover calais and then ferry back.

We've taken a dog on the ferry to Santander several times using the kennels. They are a bit bleak but you can visit and take the dog on the exercise deck at any time. The only exception was on one rough crossing when access to the upper deck was closed as it uses an external steps. The dog survived, probably because he is a dog. They recover quickly.

Ferries no longer sail from Santander in November but they do fro Bilbao.
