What are your favourite places on the coast, including stops and places to eat?

It’s a very big coast🤣
Which part of Portugal?

Nazarre is expecting the first of this seasons BIG waves this weekend if you’re north, the west south of Lisbon has many great almost empty beaches, the Algarve can offer stunning beaches and scenery with infrastructure like bars and restaurants close by😉

i am totally biased, but having done most of the western Algarve, Alvor takes some beating 😎😉

We like Vilanova de Milfontes on the Alentejo coast - pleasant little town, with beaches on the Atlantic and on the estuary. And an excellent market.

Cabanas de Tavira. Beach accessible by local boat - lovely beach bar & restaurant.
Vila Praia de Ancora - nice little town and extensive wild sandy beaches on the Atlantic coast.

Difficult to say as places for eating change so much, a couple of our favourites in Armacao were a real disappointment last time we went.
Scarborough C&CC site and a walk into town centre to Gianni's italian restaurant, family owned and still as good 13 years on from first visiting.

Beach Zambujeira do Mar Praia da Zambujeira do Mar, best cooked prawns 🦐 ever

Living on the Lincolnshire coast don’t have far to go north to the Yorkshire coast or south to Norfolk or Suffolk coast.
Our last trip was only meant to be a couple of nights in Norfolk but we kept heading south and finished when we had to come home for appointments after ten days just wandering along the coast.

Bom dia!

We have just return from an aeroplane (ugh!) based holiday based on Sertã.

I think Whitby, Harwich etc are just a bit far north for me, I had in mind places between the N border of Portugal and t'sea down south (south being the Med., not Cornwall! :giggle:).

Thanks everyone for all the Portugal coast suggestions. What I have in mind is doing the N2 (739km) road trip, and by the way I highly recommend Sertã as an N2 stop it has an aire, it's full of 1-stops, cafes, hardware and farm shops and restaurants and has 3 decent sized supermarkets, you'll also find a very helpful tourist info next to bus station and from time to time either van zig zagging to coast and or getting trains and buses.

There is a slight flaw in this N2 + coast idea, in that our recent hol was first time in Portugal and the width of Portugal looks on a map a lot thinner than it takes to drive so I think coast and N2 are either different hols or just hard to do.

Just follow the N2 from north to south and then you’ll end up at the Algarve anyway.
N2 + coast = sorted 👍😁
