We are going on our monthly holiday to France shortly need a fan to keep the temperature down in the van,any makes models people can recommend?

If you will have EHU then almost any 240 volt fan will do. Twelve volt fans are a bit trickier. The Endless Breeze is what many of us use but they are hard to buy now and will cost £100 or more if you can find one. Alternatively, have a look at 12v greenhouse fans although these people have a 10" fan for £34 which looks OK - but I don't know how noisy it is. http://www.motorcaravanning.co.uk/shopuk/12v_electrical.htm

Any disadvantage to using 240v via invertor compared to a true 12v fan?

It will need to be quiet as it will be right next to our daughter, I know I will get noise but it would be great minimal amount, mostly will be on ehu.

It will probably use more power as the inverter will have losses and mains fans don't really need to be designed to use minimal energy.

If you have space and going to be on EHU then a desk fan is probably the cheapest answer. But the one thing about the noise from fans is it is constant, assuming it isn't set to oscillating, so the brain tends to switch off from the noise after a while. Internal application of wine helps although probably not recommended for your daughter assuming she is under-age. :)

I just fitted a maxxair maxxfan deluxe with remote by replacing the vent over the bed.I got to say it's good to have that job behind me.It was hard work on top of the roof in the heat we've been having.
A nice bit of kit as tested yesterday watching tipping point, dropped off for an hour afterwards no sweat :D.

I bought these.
Amazon product ASIN B00LX7C0NO
The are silent but deadly.
I bought two initially but then DD took a liking, so she has one in her flat which she moves to her campervan. We have the other one in our motorhome. Then I bought another couple. I would seriously rate them (as would my kids).
