2010?
I read with envy those using the Euro tunnel, I get claustrophobic so can’t do tunnel but has anybody got photos of what it’s like boarding and being on the Eurotunnel pls

i don't have pictures but go on you tube there is a video from start to finish. i don't suffer from claustrophobia so don't know what i'ts like but the train is quite big you don't have to get out of your van i normally get on the bed with a book or have a kip

I'm sure someone will come along with some photos but keep in mind that the car that you load into also takes coaches ie it's really big and tall. If you go on with a regular car then you effectively go into the same sized car but there are 2 levels making it a very low ceiling, not so when you go with a camper, as said super high car height and plenty of space. There might be a video around some where.

The train journey is not claustrophobic at all. Its rather like driving through a long tunnel with plenty of lights on, but you don't actually drive. You just sit in your van. The carriages would probably just about take a double decker bus so they are quite big and airy. There is no sensation of being in a
Tunneli. IMO. (y)

I really wouldn’t be put off by feeling claustrophobic. As others have said it’s fine.

Plenty of space and headroom if you want to get out or stay in your van if not. (y)

Hi I suffer terribly with claustrophobia wakes me up in the night. But the tunnel is just that a tunnel no problem at all for me. Have a go dont over think it by the time you are on and settled its time to move off. I have a lie down for 40 winks .

Does the OP suffer from claustrophobia in an aeroplane ? If you do then a ferry is the only option.

There is an emergency service tunnel between the two train tunnels, so you have a safe exit strategy if there are operational problems.

I sympathise with your predicament, but only you can decide.

Though at the moment you do have to remain in your vehicle during the crossing.

We’ve only done the Tunnel on our motorcycles, plenty of space around you, on and off in no time at all. (y)

I have flown but don’t like it. I have to book seat by the front exit door
Take off is fine, flying and landing is fine but as soon as the seat belt light goes off and everybody stands up but can’t go anywhere that’s when I get it. So I sit at front and once landed and see steps come over, I don’t look behind me to see what others are doing, the door is open and I’m fine, I could sit there and be last off then!! Silly but can’t help it

Hi.
There are signs in the carriages banning camera/flash ? photography, something to do with the Fire ? Sensors ? You can get out of your vehicle and use one of the on board Loo's,IF they have been opened, 35 mins..... Could you manage that, worth a punt. Best of luck.

Just reiterating that today andbprobably for near future you are tobremain in your van and enjoy your coffee whilst watching a dvd. Or in my case get map out.
Close the blinds and you wont even know youre moving.
If it works out for you thennyou wint do ferries to calais again

not brilliant photos but you get the idea. Much more light and airy than going into the lower deck of a ferry. Screenshot 2020-06-16 at 06.58.30.pngScreenshot 2020-06-16 at 06.58.16.png

There is know real difference to just being in your camper. its is so quick . The Mrs doesn't like closed in spaces but she is fine on the funnel.

For speed and ease of use the Tunnel is superb.

We travel across from South Wales, have a flask of coffee and sandwiches at the ready and a newspaper.

Onto the train, turn the seats, pour the coffee and read the newspaper while eating our sandwiches. Before you know it they are announcing “about to arrive”.

If you can sit in your motorhome without worrying then you should be fine on the train. (y)
