Last year like many others we had unused crossings in our account. ET agreed to extend the validity until later this year, however now they are trying to reduce the expiry date they gave by 3 months.
Anyone else had similar?

Not yet, but have considered asking for an extension as June is not looking very hopeful

We wrote to them in mid December and asked for an extension, not had a response as yet.

Maybe they are busy with 'B' systems integration or having a nice festive break, so will give them another week

I emailed them before Christmas got a reply basically saying no they couldn't extend beyond if I hadn't used the tickets before my expiry but to contact them nearer the time if i still couldnt use them.
Dear Mr Gray,

Thank you for your e-mail.

We are sorry to learn that you may not be able to take advantage of all the outstanding credit in your Frequent Traveller wallet.

Firstly, we would like to say that we do genuinely value all of our customers and our Frequent Traveller schemes have proved very popular with over 15,000 account holders. We have had to attach specific terms and conditions of sale to the scheme in order that we can continue to maintain the very low Frequent Traveller fares and therefore we make it very clear that Frequent Traveller Accounts are non-refundable and that all credit must be used within 12 calendar months. If we were to relax the conditions of the scheme, the Frequent Traveller fare would need to rise in line with price increases for our Standard tickets.

Whilst we have every sympathy with your situation, we are unfortunately unable to extend the validity on your wallet. If you still find you have tickets remaining nearer the expiry of your wallet, please do not hesitate to contact us again and we will review the situation.

We hope you will not allow any disappointment associated with this decision deter you from travelling with Eurotunnel Le Shuttle in the future.

Kind regards,

Alison

Hi I have a frequent traveler account that expires at the end of June 2021. With the restriction on travel in the past year due to Covid will there be any extension to the time that I can use my tickets beyond the expiry date next year.
Thank you.
Kenny Gray.

Please see email i received from them on 7/5/20. To clarify we (me and another funster) have an account that started in January 2020 and we can continue to use it til January 2022. You may want to make reference to this as I saved it for a reason !

Received at 1400 hrs into my email account on 7/5/20

Dear Mr XXXXXX,

We know that this is a very unsettling time for everyone. As the lockdown continues, and Government restrictions stay in place, we have listened to your requests, and made the decision to extend the validity of all of our Frequent Travellers’ tickets by 12 months.

Hopefully this will help you dream of ventures back across the channel in the future. We certainly look forward to welcoming you much sooner than 12 months away, but decided it was simplest just to ensure you have plenty of time to make plans.

There’s no need to contact us, you should just see it change in your account at some point in the next few weeks.

Thanks for your continued support,

I can only presume because you took yours out in June is the reason they are saying No

If i were in your position I would check how many days the FCO advised against travel in the first lockdown and how many days have been in the second lockdown to date and ask them to explain their different policy (if the amounts work out) and you would be interested in their response so you can let all the other motorhome owners know who are monitoring and working out the best way of getting to france in the summer if it is available as the ferries are doing some good offers. (Or words to that effect)

Yeah was really just testing the water to see what the response was, I knew others had got an extension from last year.
I am going to look into it further with a more measured email. Thanks for the info 👍.

Just for info then

Ours runs out 3/1/22 as per the email I got from them

just check our extended wallet still extended to 2022

I m going from memory here but I believe March 23rd (our lockdown) March 17th to July 7th which is 108 114 days when FCO advice was in play not to go abroad but they sent me the letter on 5th May which is 43 49 days after initial lockdown.

The question now is What date did FCO advise not to travel this period ? And that looks like from November 5th (best info I can find quickly) making it so far 60 days so well past the point they made the decision to let us extend by a year.

Our was due to expire in Oct 2020 and was first extended to Feb 2021 and then when they extended some accounts by 12 months it was then extended for Feb 2022.

So its worth chasing up as some accounts are being extended.

Thanks, thats just the same as us, but when I tried booking i keep getting a message that the travel dates are past the expiry date (referring to original date)

Mine extended to January 2022

ours was due to finish in January 2021 and was extended by 12 months, i have a boking in for may / june this year so past the original expiry dates.

From my previous discussions with ET, it transpires they have nominally applied a cut-off date of end of February 2020 to qualify for an extension of 12 months. So, anyone who bought a wallet prior to end of February 2020, had 12 months automatically added to the expiry date.

Unfortunately, my ET wallet started early March 2020, so didn't automatically qualify for an extension of 12 months.

However, they advised to contact them nearer the expiry date when they would review cases on an individual basis.

I had that problem when I tried to change the dates on line. I couldn't get through on the phone.
I emailed using their "contact us" button and explained the situation. They cancelled that reservation from their end, refunded the excess I had paid and put the tickets back into the wallet to be available when I'm ready to book again, before the extended cut off date.

Are you creating new bookings or trying to change a booking you already had to a new date?. We had to ask the, to manually cancel our bookings and return the credits at which point we could make a new booking for July which was way past the previous expiration date we had.

Hi orridge
I have some unused bookings in my wallet, In April ET told me my wallet was extended until sept 2021,now out of the blue they tell me its only to June 2021. I have e mailed them copying their original offer but at present they will not budge. Given I have 6 unused crossings so at best will only use 2 I'm not very happy with them

That is shocking !

I would be really tempted at this stage to say you are prepared to go to small claims court and ensure your cousin (who happens to be a Daily Mail reporter) will be there and when you win (based upon what you have written) you will then advise every other motorhomer of their service.

Excuse me but "Bastards" is the only way i can refer to them over your case.

Ours was taken out in November each year and extended to November this year. I have just booked the second one for September and it has gone through with no problems. Obviously your "anniversary" will play a part, but everyone should have had a year extra. Bear in mind that this is not their fault and they have been good enough to waive their terms and conditions on the time to use them. I think an extra year was very fair.

If you want to blame anyone, blame the bozo's who are supposedly running the country! The ones who are always behind the curve. Otherwise we could we could well have been out of this for the most part.

I agree that a 1 year extension is very fair but why has this thread have to become a political issue. I am sorry but IMHO your last point does not appear to be relevant.

Well, there are a few on here ragging on Eurotunnel for something that is outside their control. As a company they have to make money or go under. One years extension is more than fair. My final point was to get people to put the blame where the blame should lay. That is no more political than blaming Eurotunnel.

If blame is the name of the game then perhaps the Chinese Government are most culpable.

Just a wee follow up on my post earlier in the week.
Phoned Eurotunnel the other day and explained the situation regarding unused tickets and was told there were no plans to extend. I explained of the cases I'd saw on Social media regarding extensions and still no joy the rep I spoke to suggested I fill in the query complaint form explaining my situation.
Filled in the form yesterday explaining about the unused tickets I share with a fellow member on here and surprisingly today had a response extending my wallet by 12 months to June 2022.
Definitely seems a bit hit or miss regarding extensions from what I've read and who you get to respond..
Just to let you all know..

Just had a phone call from my brother, my frequent traveller partner, he has received an email reply from Eurotunnel to say they have extended our eight remaining crossings until 8th March 2022. There is light at the end of the tunnel😃
