Going to Spain in May,just wondering about EAS Form.?
Do you get one from your Insurance Company?
I have got EAS mentioned on my Certificate of Insurance with what looks like a serial number.
Google says it can be issued at time of accident??

Get one in you language, the third party will have theirs in their language...only one form is filled in by both parties....
It could be yours or theirs...you then both keep a signed copy..after agreeing the contents..if the Police attend the accident they may help if there is a disagreement as to the cause of the accident...Good luck if you ever need to use it...which I hope you don't 🇬🇧🇪🇦🤔

A pal was T boned by a care worker running on "P" plates which wrote his car off, the guy didn't speak a word of English, but had one of those style of forms on him.
When you see the recent influx of carers around here in their elderly Micra's and Uno's with panels that would make Father Ted's Rover look like a Concours d'Elegance winner, you have to wonder if they go through more forms than they do rubber gloves !
Please don't jump on the "racist" or "Well, if the Government spent more money on social care....." tropes as these are merely recent observations in our area.

Not used one since I think 2010, hope I'm not due for another try.

Interesting that the care worker thought that he needed one of those forms. Good that he carried one.

Legal requirement in EU if I remember correctly from my coaching days. Still have a few I "obtained" then and carry them in the van.

I would refuse to sign the other driver's form if printed and written entries were in another language.

Where would you stand in that case, for an insurance claim ?

Don't think it's compulsory Geoff...but I believe makes it more simple for insurance purposes...
For this very reason you have your language copy for reference purposes..
Saves jotting down the other drivers vehicle and personal details on a bit of scrap paper and then loosing it..🤨

So the ones I’ve printed off the internet are no good then?
Not exactly...if you were involved in an accident with me as a Spanish resident, I would produce my Accident statement in Spanish...you use yours as a copy to cross reference...you read the English version and write in my Spanish version....in English..we both sign my copy and keep for when we make a insurance claim...
If you had a Statement from your insurance company or motoring club in English..you could fill in yours and I would use my copy to cross reference.and fill in my details on yours.
Both Spanish and English forms are the same...just the wording is different.

With comfort insurance they give a link to a form that they say must be printed off incase involved in an accident...no carbon copies.
Well if that applies to the UK then follow your insurance guidelines...here in Eurozone where the European Accident Statement originated it's different
When I lived in the UK over 27 years ago GB didn't require them...but we do here in the format I previously mentioned..

That is what the form is for. Each party fills in one side of the form with all details & schematics of what happened & signs & dates it. I.e the left hand side is partA for the policy holder the right hand side is part B for the one you had accident with. Both have to sign ,time & date at both of the forms. Each form is in triplicate at least . one for you ,one for the opposing party & one for your insurance company,
This is the idea of the form . the insurance claim has been sorted at the side of the road.
It seems to be only one form is filled in so how do you both get a copy?
I think jumar is incorrect there. I've always used a form each. But as above each form is in triplicate.

Usually the form filling will take hours. Last time we retired to the bar that we were in when the vehicle we had parked was hit.

I have dozens of these forms as you get one every time you reinsure/change companies.I keep one that is in english just so that I can check,if necessary that I have filled in my part of the foreign one correctly.

If thats right Richard, I stand corrected..but what happens if one of the insured parties doesn't have a form, which happened to me when I was a passenger in a UK registered car and would you believe it the old driver of the Spanish car couldn't read or write.
Answer......call the Guardia Trafico.
They attended produced a form, filled it in a gave a copy to both parties .
A good talking point over coffee tomorrow...see you then..👍🇪🇦🇬🇧

Exactly, as I said further up, always call the police.

If there are injuries, even slight, the other driver refused to complete the form, or you suspect alcohol or other substances, or you have reason to believe foul play is involved...you have every right to call the police...for a slight accident to.vehicles a Roadside statement needs to be completed if no party suffers an injury
