Given this recent announcement what is the betting that other European nations will start to close direct non quarantine access for UK travellers. Looks like Switzerland may now be off your travel list unless you have been somewhere else first for 10 days. This has just been announced.

It looks like our trip to Cyprus in October might be at risk - the day after I shelled out over £6k for it

We do have insurance that covers it though(y)

Actually, I think I am insured...

Defo insured if one of us tests positive and can’t travel but not sure if covered if Cyprus puts us on quarantine list:unsure:

Its a BA holiday and to be fair they have been quick to cancel ( and fully refund) our cancelled holidays this year.

best just close the doors on the eu and not allow anyone to enter uk or even return to uk.
after all it possibly only came to uk via people entering uk from europe.
I think it was the super spreader from Brighton starting off in singapore who infected the french ski resort , & others staying there then took it to Majorca & elsewhere, before he returned home to the Uk a infected his wife , a doctor, who passed it on to lots of patients , who then spread it farther..

If we are in a motorhome travelling to Europe & staying only at Aires, aren't we automatically considered as quarantined?

For Cyprus you already need to have had a negative COVID test done 72 hrs before the the time you land in Cyprus and you have to fill an online form in and upload the result certificate in the 24 hrs prior to the flight.

You can however create an account and fill the form in before that and save it as a draft, a drop down box with the flight numbers in to select from doesn’t appear until 24 hrs before the flight to allow you to complete it.

They are very strict with the 72 hrs too, a friend had a test, filled in the paperwork, but got turned away at the airport because the test was carried out 84 hrs before......£150 quid test down the drain and lost the flight.

There is very little guidance as to how to do all of the above....

I know all that thanks.

The trouble is if they put us into category C we can’t go and nor can we if the Uk puts them on the Q14 list.

Oh well...

I guess Switzerland is now off our routing. We’ve been touring regions of France that are on the Swiss naughty list :-(

So confused, it’s time to assume that everywhere abroad is off limits.
Better that way. We have put our life on hold. Had it good for a longtime though.

Looks like the end of the street has became off limits for some parts of the UK again. 😢

Stuck in Munich for the night

Got to the gate and apparently you have to do an online form before you can leave Germany!!

Very badly organised by Lufthansa, loads of people turned away as it takes ages to do and where I was boarded nearl last had no time to do it😡

Apparently this has been in force for 5 days but nothing on the emails and text the airline send or at the airport.

So go back down to the Lufthansa counter to rebook my flight, 6.30 in the morning and then he says extra €360😳

Tell him to do one as he’s taking the piss.

See one of the other passengers at another counter has a word with her, result changed for free.
Give the bloke the finger as I walk off,,tosser 😡

Just got stung €150 for the Hilton for the night it’s at the airport so that will do me for the night.

Absolute shit UK Gov web site everyone was trying to find the page to do the online form.

Back again in a few weeks so hope it doesn’t change again.

My normal pre Christmas 4 week snowboarding trip to Austria is looking less & less likely.........I'm hoping for lots of snow in the Brecon Beacons this year.... 🙂

Our Canaries fortnight in November and Almeria for New Year are looking increasingly unlikely... ☹️

Especially all those foreign lorry drivers Alan, watching them on the ferries with staff keep telling them to put their masks on. 🤔 Bob.

Flew out of terminal 2 on Thursday loads of people walking around with no masks on, bunch of English blokes on the plane shouting at each other and knocking back beer like it was their last one, kept on being told about masks🙁

landed at Munich and did not see one person without a mask, all shops I’ve been to the same!!

Bit embarrassing to be English some times🙁🙁

We're in Germany at present, and I'm really not looking forward to going back to the UK 😞. Life just seems so 'normal' here.
Dreading the long, dreary British winter.
We're in Italy and I am thinking exactly the same. Really reluctant to go home. We planned on returning early November but I want to stay longer and spend a bit of time in safe Germany. Wife will miss grandkids but as it stands, how can you get to see them?

Nice to see you saying "embarrassing to be English" and not "embarrassing to be British".😎😎

Really?? And shall we pull up the drawbridge for the rest of the world as well? How long for?

Nah! Just buy a dinghy & some oars. Seems to be the easiest way to cross the channel at the moment.

It seems that Lufthansa have got the message!

Turned back up at Munich airport at 5-45 this morning and went to the gate.
Girl came straight over and went around everyone asking if they had filled out the GOV UK form.
Still nothing on their emails they send about it.

Back out to Germany in 2 weeks but coming back through the tunnel so will have to make sure I check the latest news, don’t fancy getting stuck in France overnight ☹️

Europe will be closed a bit more if the Swiss vote to cancel free movement for EU nationals passes.

I am not sure what arrangements the UK and Swiss governments have made for 1st Jan onwards.

Anyone know?

Geoff

Forgot to say,
Been i Germany for 3 days did not see a single person without a mask on in the airport or shops and restaurants.

Came back into Heathrow at 7-30 this morning, terminal 2 was heaving with new arrivals.
Got past border control and there they are strolling around without masks on😡

Police officers in Munich Airport walking around all the time, Heathrow nope not see any.

We are currently in Rothenburg ODT, I have to say everyone is very good at wearing masks in shops and restaurants, should you forget you can expect a loud vocal reminder from the staff. Perhaps this is part of difference between the two countries as it seems uk staff don’t see policing the wearing of masks as their job.
Talking to a local dog walker this morning they told me that surveillance Drone’s were flying during lockdown here in Germany earlier this year.
