I have had this van for a wile have had the engine in and out a few times.
Apart from the direct earth to the starter motor there is no other earth straps
is that right or should there be more.

I would fit one battery to chassis.

The chassis earth could be running to the engine earth via control cables...throttle, clutch etc which isnt good

Depends on the engine, the addition of additional earth straps can cause problems with the ECU as you can get micro currents flowing via them.

I think there might already be one battery to chassis :):)

One is normal on any vehicle. If there were two, which might seem like a good idea, you would not know anyway if one became faulty.

I am making something like that from welding cabal I will be soldering copper pipe on to the wire then flatten drill hole bolt on job done

I remember years ago on the early Minis you could always tell if there was an earth strap problem, the choke cable used to get hot, very hot!!

Yes mine is 35mm welding cable but with proper tinned copper hexagonal hydraulic crimps.

I remember years ago on the early Minis you could always tell if there was an earth strap problem, the choke cable used to get hot, very hot!!
I once lit a fag off the earth cabal on a mini just before it burnt right thruge and bust in to flames
