At the end of the day aren’t they the same engine but just remapped at a ridiculous price upgrade.
Not according to a guy at Quantum the difference is the turbo

I just had my 130 remapped to 150 and makes a very nice difference. More pleasant to drive and much better on hills. Wish I had done it sooner.

It makes the gear box hold the gear a bit longer, ie if your gearbox changes up at say 2200 rpm with the up button on it will change up at say 2500 rpm this can vary depending weather you are accelerating hard and also terrain hills ect.
Fiat recommend the use on hills or heavy loads.
But no doubt someone will be along soon to tell me I am wrong, but that is what I do.
Nope you are right.:)
With the up on it does tend to hold too lower gear on decents.

I wish I'd had the 180 but it was (about 50kg) heavier than the 130/150, so I went for the 150 instead. Now they're all the same weight (but increasing prices). I'd avoid Fiat altogether if I could, otherwise go for the bigger engine for a more relaxing ride. The smallest will chug along but I'd prefer something with a bit more responsiveness for overtaking or climbing steep hills. Hoping that it will loosen up more with more miles but no sign of that after 8000miles...

The 'up' button is also a 'down' button, holding lower gears before changing in both directions. Mine has been on permanently.

Well Lenny I find as soon as I touch the brake the gearbox changes down on decents but if I select manual it will stay in the same gear until the revs drop to an unrealistic low.

If you have the UP button on, on a decent you will be going so slow you won't need the brakes.:ROFLMAO:

I would be interested if you recommend and advise who did your remap?

I believe the reason that Fiat now use the 2.3 is to reduce emissions & get into euro 6 , the 3lt would be a far better engine to drive with more torque BUT the 2.3 will be ok just more revs & gear changes , especially On hills ets , I have a brand new 2.3 / 180 with comfortmatic gearbox (5 ton/8.6m ) coming in 2 days , I have no worries at all but I would rather have had the 3ltr if it was still available

After the problems we had with last years new 180/ 2.3, we have had a Steinbauer Power unit put onto its replacement. It's not been remapped, it's a plug in ( and out if required) and gives more torque when required. We have just done our first long trip, and it is different vehicle compared to the one we rejected. We can't just put that down to the Steinbauer but as it was fitted by Mick Leightley then we are sure it was the right decision.

I have a removable chip/box on my Renault master & it makes a big difference (power & torque). I was thinking of putting one on my new 2.3/180 , I was wondering if anybody had done that , I had looked on eBay , i could only find one that MIGHT fit

When you look at the power output and torque very little difference between the 2.3 & 3 Lt, 2.3 is on the left.

Must admit I’ve not found our 180 lacking power. The first 1,000 miles it was a bit tight and now is loosening up and still getting better. We still only have 5,000 on the clock so I’m expecting further improvements based on @Lenny HB experience.

In fact one of the hardest things to do is to not end up running over the speed limits on motorways...

Hi Lenny , the graphs do look similar so I hope the 2.3 is as good as the 3lt , from experience larger capacity engines usually feel better to drive ,
Maybe someone who has driven both could give us there opinion
