I have a choice of two motorhomes both Autosleepers PVC on Peugeot base, one has a 2.2 150 BHP engine the other a 2 L 160 BHP which as I understand it is the latest incarnation. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences of those engines it seems to me that the 2.2 euro 5 is an older well tried unit but that newer 2 ltr introduced in 2016 may be more efficient and give better MPG and Its euro 6 compliant. I would appreciate any views or information.

I have the 2.0 160 and just had to replace the Adblu pump and tank cost €1500 in Germany apparently they are starting to see this happening regularly mine had 45000 miles .

I managed to buy one of the last Euro5+ vans as I wanted to avoid the Euro6 and the extra rubbish fitted. BTW my Euro5+ van was late 2016 so is automatically aproved for the ULEZ etc

We have a 2.2 150 bho ( think peugeot use same engines as ford)
No problems at all afer 22k miles. Pulls very well.

however the 2.0 l will be better for the emmisuon regulations and ,possibly, access to town emissions areas in the future ?

The latest incarnation is 2.2 165bhp.
Euro 6d engine which we have.
Warwick xl 2021

i have a fiat but i would not buy anything that is not a euro6

And how do you get on with it?
Lovely to drive especially with the airtop suspension.
The engine doesn't feel any different to the 2.0l 160 engine.
We average around 32 mpg. Plenty of power which minimises gear changes.
Which PVC are you looking at

We previously owned the 2.2 and currently have the 2.0. Both were 130 BHP. The 2.2 pulled better but was noisy especially when cold. The 2.0 is much smoother and quieter but doesn’t seem to have as much power. The 2.0 has a timing belt which will need to be changed as necessary.

Aurosleeper Warwick xl one is 2016 with the 2.3 the other 2017 with the 2lt

2016 with a 2.3????
Thought they were 2.2 then. Maybe wrong though.
We have the xl and love it 😀

I had a P:ug 508 estate with he 2 litre diesel which went like S***t off a shovel compared with the 2000 reg 405 estate. Same base engine the latter was 90 nap the former 163bhp

I meant to refer to the 406 estate, reputedly one of the best ever built Pug, I traded in for the 508 which in my opinion was even better and was an excellent tug in my caravan days ended in 2017 late summer when we switched to the motorhome

I had 2.2 on a Peuogot 130 and it was really well geared but a bit noisy. The current 2.3 150 is really smooth and on the the Comformatic is excellent. However I 1st had the 3ltr comformatic and that really was the bees knees! If they put that back into the popular vans instead of having to pay a premium for the so called luxury ones to get it and pair with the new 9 spd Auto that would give the overated Mercs a run for its money.

Going on from my original question I was wondering if the judder in reverse and scuttlegate issued were still an issue on newer vans or whether these had been corrected in the newer vans, my existing 2008 Fiat based Rapido did have judder but was fixed and being A class didn't have a scuttle problem.

Great thread for me.
Decided, based on above i will only buy if it has the 2lt 160/5 euro 6.
