Need to charge the engine battery it's five years old and could be on the way out but just want to boost it a bit
Can I leave the terminals connected when charging or disconect one or both ,and about how long on charge

OK to leave on.

How long depends on your charger but 24 hrs would probably do it.

If it is knackered you will lose the charge quite quicky after you stop charging.

See this article.For some Peugeot/Fiat based wrong size battery was fitted so you might have a claim

The van charger may already be connected up to the cab battery but much better to charge it directly.
