Caravan before 2000 / Motorhome From 2018 to 22 / Now Caravan again.
Well been a member here since Nov 4, 2018 and a paid up lifetime member of which it’s been a blast but……. Today we sold our Motorhome and to be honest a bit saddened. This forum has a vast amount of Motorhome information and without members here and the odd ban and argument with Jim lol I would of been stuck on a few occasions.

The reason for the sale is money and health reasons, I’ve just been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea with an AHI of 96.1 and on letting my employer aware soon said bye bye 👋.

So, to keep costs down, until I can get this under control (NHS waiting is over 12 months) not waiting that long going private and I cannot drive doctor said I’m not to drive so my job, car and Motorhome are out of the window.

So plan of action is to get a caravan (Not until apnea is sorted) saving on extra fuel, tax, mot and insurance for now and selling the Motorhome is a big lose to us, it’s been a big part of the family and many a good trip away.

So, for now and until the vans collected I’m no longer a Motorhome owner but soon a Caravan owner and that will feel very strange indeed.

I will say tho that Jim is doing a bloody fine job here running the forum, magazine and rallies and I have taken my hat off to him for his dedication to the cause and who knows that we may come back to the Motorhome fold sometime soon.

In the mean time I thank every single member here on MHF for their laughter, comments, help and advice since I’ve been here and who knows if Jim will allow a caravan into the fold I still might be a part of MHF.

Best wishes all,

Brian and Debs.

Sorry to hear that but just a bit puzzled ,if you can't drive how are you going to pull a caravan?

well good luck ,and just to make you feel good we do have lots of members with caravans ,hope you get everything sorted

Sorry to hear of your current and, hopefully, shortish term issues.
There are a number of wobble box owners \ users on here so you are still most welcome.

Sad to hear that mate. You could speed things up medically if you went private. Expensive I know but worth it if you can afford it. You'd probably get a C-pap machine within a a few weeks. Thus being able to drive again.

Realist. Sorry to learn of your health issues Brian & Debs, pulling the plug on work and your MH.
Health always has to come first though, so you get yourself sorted ASAP, and we'll see you both as tuggers on a rally field, sooner rather than later hopefully. (y)

All the best,

Jock & Rita. :)

He explained that in his original post.
Sorry to hear you’re having to stop driving for a while. You’ll be back in no time. I think we’ve a few box draggers on here so you’ll fit right in.
All the best.

Mate, i was diagnosed in 2003 with severe sleep apnoea, don't let it take over your life, as long as you persevere with treatment (cpap) you will get your licence back. PM me if you need advice, if you already know how many episodes you are having then I presume you've had a sleep test already, did they not start you on treatment immediately?

Sorry to hear of your problems and trust you’re sorted soon, best wishes for the future.

Did he?? He said he was not allowed to drive so chaser was right to ask how he would tow a caravan or did we miss something you spotted?

Good luck to you both , drop in to MHF when you feel like it . Keep us posted on your condition.

Let's not argue gang about "pulling a caravan"!:(

OP's got other things to be thinking about than us "challenging" what he said or not.(y)

I wasn't arguing, just asking how it would work that's all, can't see the difference between a motorhome or caravan as regards driving.
Hope he soon gets sorted and I wasn't trying to be clever.

You have my sympathy, but with figures like that I cannot understand why you weren't called back immediatly,I had an AHI of 51 with the worse one lasting 126 seconds! (maybe that's what did it) I was given a CPAP machine within a week and AHI went down to 4,👍that was seven years ago.
Good luck 🤞

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind words and yes I did say I'll not get a caravan until I'm sorted BUT...... wife can drive my car and she can pull caravan but.......... will she thats the question?

Thanks all.

Why don’t people read posts before commenting on them. The OP explained in great detail the need for financial savings, and the savings to be made with a caravan. He also explained that he wouldn’t be driving/towing until permitted, yet people still comment and query those points

Sorry to hear of your health issues but that must be your no 1 priority.oncr that's sorted everything else will fall back into place.
Best of luck. ,Chase your GP ,or can you go private?

For some reason I cant send you a pm, but we have a sleep study place at work and I know they seek people occasionally.

Are you able to send me a pm ?

Nope, I sent private for a test but my doc says I will have to wait for the NHS clinic and that has a waiting list of over 12 months and I'm not waiting that long no way.

Have an appointment privately but its March and god don't they charge the earth cos I want gold for my £220 quid's worth, jeez.

Episodes the results say 832 total events per night.

For god's sake I was only making conversation.

Best wishes to you and I hope you get back to a caravan or motorhome when your health is better. Good luck.
