Hi.
Any advice on which campsites have facilities for emptying fixed tanks...grey and black? Think we will need to plan our trip by service points! Thanks for any info

Where are you planning on going would help as a starting point!

Do you have a macerator and hose? That makes a massive difference. There are very few US style campsites with black waste gravity facilities.

Hi. Yes we have macerator and 3m hose. We are touring Peloponnese. Currently on west coast but will be moving around for next 4 weeks

We have no problem emptying ours. Wherever there is a toilet, the macerator can be used. And if there is a sewer chamber, gravity is used.

We have a 250l tank...so don’t think we can empty into a toilet. Need sites with a moho service point that can be accessed by a 9.2m van.

Why not?

The U-bend is a water trap not a sluice valve.

If you’ve seen the standard of Greek plumbing you’d know 250 l at once on a toilet would be asking for problems :(

Challenge is surely finding locations that have proper mains sewer connections not just to a sceptic tank or cesspit

Why not? because the OP has a gravity discharge tank not pumped I believe.

If they have a macerator and hose do they still need a pump to dispose of via a toilet then?

You live and learn.

Seems limiting if a pump isn’t provided with such a system?

Think it depends if its an onboard/in tank or external macerator.
Onboard won't pump externally but an external macerator may pump a long way

Whilst, Ground level "facilities" are usually not the biggest issue, so long as you can get within your hose length of accessing the dump point, anything else, needs a pump. With my R-V I had a Macerator screwed to a piece of thick plywood, a short hose from the R-V tank to the macerator, and 30+ feet of flat hose. I never had a problem Neither in the UK nor on the continent.

These are readily available now too. come as a full kit and a carry case too. Amazon product ASIN B001HKZHIW

Yes every system has its limitations, in this case the limitation is gravity so as already mentioned if you want to deliver it uphill you need a macerator from the tank and that will then pump it a long way. Usually you find where there is a cassette dump point there will also be a manhole but you might need to lift it.
