Good evening guys,
At the start of the year I fitted a second hand B2200 Dometic air con unit to my van. Initially it went pop and on inspection it turns out the pcb had shorted out due to a buildup of dust and debris on the pcb tracks.
With help from guys on here I was able to do a repair and got it working ok.
I`ve not used it this year for obvious reasons but I tested it regularly and it worked fine.
Recently I noticed the led mains on indicator was not lit.
I put the multi meter on the pcb mains connection and got 230 volts. I changed the main fuse but still not working.
I then beefed up the earlier repair but still no good.
So my question is, would a decent electronics repairer likely be able to identify a faulty component on the pcb ?
I have used a local guy in the past who seems fairly good, but mostly TV and washer repairs, and I doubt he has any experience of Dometic air con.
Maybe it`s junk, but I`d like one last go at fixing it if possible.
TIA

Probably yes, BUT
1) does the unit still work ok (had similar issue, just cleaned up the PCB removed any carbon tracking, re-soldered tracks and reinsulated. 9 it's someone else's problem now if it goes awry)
2) if working ok can you live without the indicator? if so great, if not buy a cheap neon /led mains indicator and solder across the ac mains supply.
3) Get a COMPETANT electrician to have a look. (no disrespect but a maintenance Lecky would be best)

It`s not working at all now, no power, the led just alerted me to that. I could live without the led.
I`m just guessing, but I suspect a component one the pcb has got a fault and wonder how easily it might be identified and repaired.

Fairly easily I would have thought. If it's simply that the supply isn't getting through it's possibly a component weakened by the first fault you had.

I can't help, coincidence but I take anything electronic to a bloke who's main business is domestic repairs, he's never failed to sort things out for me at a fraction of the price 'specialist' electronic repair shops.
