Always a keen cyclist Mrs Maison invested in an electric bike after having both knees replaced. She has ridden them now for about ten years.

However, recently, she has started to worry about balance and we are considering buying an e-trike. We cannot find anywhere that has them that could facilitate a test ride. (The ones we have seen are too much money to spend without making sure that they are suitable).

Does anyone know of a bike shop that may be able to help within, 80-100 miles of Cardiff?

Does anyone have experience of using one?

Thanks, in anticipation.

Hi Maison.
My wife had balance problems and difficulty getting her feet to the ground quickly when stopping. We needed a folding Trike that reduced in width to fit the MH garage.
Pete at AS Bikes had been developing one for some years and we made an appointment for a test ride at his place near Leamington Spa. He also attends many MH & Caravan shows and may do test rides there if the location is suitable. We bought from him 18 months ago and have been well pleased. We have had his electric bicycle for about 12 years so we knew we would get good service. https://www.asbikes.co.uk/

If you don't need a folder then Jorvic Trikes (of York) https://jorviktricycles.com/ are good and they have dealers around the country, we were offered a test ride in Solihull.

I personally can't help, but, there was an advertisement for one on the classifieds some time back. So maybe scroll back on the adverts or a search may help.

Thank you for the reply. Very useful. We have contacted Yorvik to see if they have a local dealership and we will arrange a trip to Leamington when our new m/h is delivered at beginning of August. We dare not use our present trade-in in case we suffer damage in the meantime.

Riding a standard trike is very strange, they dont lean and it is easy to lift a wheel or tip over.
There are trikes that tilt a little, these are much better.
Alternatively search for recumbent trike, expensive and difficut to store although some fold. Much better re stsbility but much lower, ICE and Azub are 2 manufacturers.
My wife has tried all 3 and has the azub recumbent with aftermarket electric kit.
