Waiting to buy our first MH when we can view one. I use an electric wheelchair or a mobility scooter. If we’re on EHU on a site, can we charge it up or is it too power hungry? Apart from running the usual phones/tablet charging we won’t have a TV running etc.

It won't be a problem charging from EHU even a low power 6 amp one will be OK.
You should be able to charge off grid if you fit additional batteries and solar panels & an inverter.

Thanks for the reply. I don’t need to charge it every day, so probably around the same amount of time we would need to be on site to refil water etc so would rely on just the EHU to charge to start with as not really goof to be going off grid/long haul to start with.

I installed one of each in the garage for my wife's electric chair. EHU and inverter power.

I manage to keep two electric bikes with 36v batteries charged with enough power using a 12v-36v charger, (no inverter), with a 100w solar and 100ah battery.

CAMC say members must not charge an EV or such direct from the pitch's hookup point, only from a 230v socket inside your caravan or MH. The 16 amp supply should be enough for all your needs as long as you don't run too many power hungry devices at the same time.

I don't know what the CCC rules are.

Thanks, I was planning on charging either from the van whilst it was hooked up. Good to know it’s not an issue.
(need to google what an inverter is……..)

I use a mobility scooter. Remove the battery box (if you can) and charge that in the motorhome. Be aware of fumes - a bit of ventilation never hurt.

Our previous van had an external power point, so could just park mobility scooter next to it and charge up.
