Possibly not from your personal waste, but you might transfer something from a tap, hose or lid that has been contaminated by a previous userNever put anything in the cassette bar body waste ie pee and poo , no chemicals or washing tabs etc used. When emptying I use no gloves and unless I was never using the toilet again or at least for a considerable time there's no reason to rinse it either .
Open lid empty cassette, close lid wash hands
Happy days.
And I've yet to ever catch some illness from emptying my own toilet.
Rinse them under the tap, you mean?Only rules are fresh first, then black and grey, then wash hands
As I said .. no need to use a tap or hose unless you're not using the toilet again .Possibly not from your personal waste, but you might transfer something from a tap, hose or lid that has been contaminated by a previous user
I open grey first , put fresh hose in , empty cassette, wash hands . By then hopefully fresh is nearly full.Only rules are fresh first, then black and grey, then wash hands
Absolutely agree with your last sentenceAs I said .. no need to use a tap or hose unless you're not using the toilet again .
And It's never happened up till now so I can't see why it would happen from now.
Good immune systems come from not being too paranoid
Days of covid lol ??Absolutely agree with your last sentence
However in these days of COVID I believe that it is wise to maintain good hand hygiene, particularly if, like me you are old and male!
Maybe it’s because you spend most of your time in isolation?Days of covid lol ??
I think one of the reasons I'm very rarely ill and still never had covid is the fact I'm terrible for not washing my hands all the time.
Think my sisters had it 4 or 5 times now and she was a nurse
Can't recall the last time I was sick
I don'tMaybe it’s because you spend most of your time in isolation?
My butler does while doing mine….I wonder if they wear gloves when they wipe their butt?
Which is why, imho, you might want to treat all external parts of public water supply and waste disposal facilities as potentially contaminated by “cassette splatter”Whilst emptying our tanks at a site on Oleron yesterday a French guy proceeded to empty his cassette at the drinking water point, kindly putting the spout directly on the tap, fairly gross TBH.
How does the gloves help a fresh water tap?Which is why, imho, you might want to treat all external parts of public water supply and waste disposal facilities as potentially contaminated by “cassette splatter”
Now, it probably does not transmit contagious disease in the vast majority of instances, however, I personally find the prospect of ingesting, or even coming into contact with, the contents of someone else’s cassette unappealing
Which is why I prefer to wear nitrile gloves………
I always wipe the threads of a tap and run it before connecting as a matter of habit. Seen too many folk rinsing cassettes ( pointless excercise) under taps .. have also seen dogs drinking from themWhilst emptying our tanks at a site on Oleron yesterday a French guy proceeded to empty his cassette at the drinking water point, kindly putting the spout directly on the tap, fairly gross TBH.
When they do that I shout at then loudly, I hope you did.Whilst emptying our tanks at a site on Oleron yesterday a French guy proceeded to empty his cassette at the drinking water point, kindly putting the spout directly on the tap, fairly gross TBH.
Absolutely!I always wipe the threads of a tap and run it before connecting as a matter of habit. Seen too many folk rinsing cassettes ( pointless excercise) under taps .. have also seen dogs drinking from them![]()
Shouting may make you feel better, but does little to decontaminate the tap, I’m afraid..When they do that I shout at then loudly, I hope you did.
Excellent advice! How does the gloves help a fresh water tap?
Just clean the tap with a wipe or wet cloth before attaching your hose . And always run it a few seconds too before connecting your hose.
Same here. I then store them in the cassette compartment.I use some fetching yellow marrigolds![]()
Nope, just gave it a wash on his departure even though I didn’t need to use it! But I’m sure it wouldn’t take long for the same thing to reoccur. When they do that I shout at then loudly, I hope you did.
Sounds a bit like the bloke who, when told by his doctor that he had syphilis, said “I must have caught it off a toilet seat”, to which the doctor replied, “well you must have been chewing it, it’s in your gums!”Use disposable gloves and chuck em. So the guy before you sticks the hose half way down his cassette to rinse it. You are up next. You grab the same hose with your bare hand and rinse yours out.
Problem:
He has Hep A. Or E.Coli.
You have a cut on your finger.
Oops. Do you feel lucky?
And most of the opinion masquerading as fact on social media………Only two types of crap that repulse me.
Dogs and chickens![]()
It's the ones you don't see thst you should be worried about lol. I just clean every tap as a given. When they do that I shout at then loudly, I hope you did.
Apart from your putting contaminant from your gloves on the tap for the next personExcellent advice!
Wearing gloves means wiping the tap is not so necessary
Well, that will be a helpful boost for their immune system, don’t you think?Apart from your putting contaminant from your gloves on the tap for the next person
It’s not your butt that is the problem. It’s their butt.I wonder if they wear gloves when they wipe their butt?
