Have owned my moho for 2.5 years now
Following on from my decision to spend this christmas away in my Motorhome i have been doing some advanced preperations. Which i have to say is very unlike me. I have placed an order with the butcher for meat. I am going to cook the turkey and gammon before i depart on christmas eve and put in the fridge. Today i have ordered myself a bottle of rum and a bottle of 12 year old fittercairn single malt. I havnt been this organised for many a year. It is helped with not having to buy presents. I have even planned where i will do the final food shop as well. This is all quite scary as we are not out of november yet.

I'd just love to be able to plan for WHERE we'll be at Christmas ... the lovely Chinese restaurant in Mazarron is beckoning but I haven't a clue if we'll get there this year ... just in case we're at home hubby's already asked if we should get a turkey! :giggle:

ever too early to plan or anything IMO !
But Christmas is the best- planning is at least half the fun; tree up 1/12 takes a whole day and by that time the food /presents etc are all in the house or on the list .
Mind you best laid plans oft gang agley as they say - last year the chaos caused by those that are notionally in charge saw guests stay for one day instead of 3 and depart with the best bits of the cheese board and port not to mention food for 5 for two days . This year we will have at least plan A B and C !

Our tree will be a bit late this year. We usually do it so it's up on 1/12 too, but this year we're hosting granddaughter's dog for a week until 27/11 and haven't a clue whether she's going to like us or not - we've never had a dog in this house, where we've lived since 1999 ! We can hardly spread all the boxes around and have a decent sort out and clean, which always = chaos for several days before it's all done and boxes back in the loft until January. If she wasn't entirely stuck for people she can leave her with, she'd not have asked us.

Fingers crossed it will be a proper Christmas this year. Darling daughter has leave and will be home from Bangladesh, son who works for St Mungos homeless charity in London will be coming to us with his girlfriend and our ”baby” will be here. He’s 25 mind you! I placed my M&S order when they first went online, mainly for the vegan stuff.

Claire will want to do daily M&S or Waitrose shops in the week running up to Christmas day as supermarkets are such a novelty for her now.

I absolutely love Christmas but only because it’s family together time, we did it in October last year, Christmas tree, crackers, stockings, the works because we knew Claire didn’t have leave over Christmas, nothing to do with Covid. Christmas itself was horrible as we didn’t even have Matthew and Coral, it was just three of us.

I know for a lot of people it’s just a day but I love the few days together eating , playing board games, watching cheesy films and good walks if it’s nice.

It’s good to spoil my wonderful hard working children.

We will probably be at home for Christmas day but there is a possibility that we might be able to get away in the MH even if only for a couple of days. I love Christmas and all that it entails. Tree selection on 4th December from Keele Christmas tree farm. 🎄🎅🎁

C'mon, spill the 'sprouts' (seasonal variation of beans!) and tell us what really happened! :giggle:

:Eeek:

Yep we're sorted too.... frozen sprouts, parsnips Yorkshire's, pigs in blankets, cranberry and bread sauce in, Quality street, tin of shortbread, crackers, tree, lights etc etc all in van. Just butcher to vist to get turkey ordered for collection on 24th. We'll be in Benicassim then... southern France now... can wait!

‘‘Twas all true! Daughter son in law 3 grandkids descended for one day after Bojo did last min u turn and I had bought enough food for several dozen people - daughter had not ! So they came for Boxing Day 2 hr journey each way we just ate and played board games , then emptied rest of Xmas goodies into chilli bin as they left.
No family bust ups just an excessively empty cheese board - my fault for letting them help with packing food . No time for rowing mouths full of 2 meals buffeted into one😄😄😄😄

Well it’s all change this year for us. We normally do a big Boxing Day do at ours for both our immediate families.
we only have a small bungalow all though we do have a full depth through lounge. John’s family have decided it isn’t big enough now the kids are older they are all apart from the 8yo taller than me, and a few over 6 footers, nowhere for the youths to go so they have suggested John and \i going to them on the 27th So my family can still be with us for Boxing Day, also my younger son’s birthday. Can understand the reasoning but my family don’t live locally and will still be here on the 27th. Am a bit miffed really as the person who brought it up got someone else to ask us about it and feel it is dividing the extended family we’ve been together for over 20 years. Can’t really say to my sons can you bu**er off home now as we are going to ******’s
have suggested the 28th not had any response as yet.
Thanks for letting me vent, if it wasn’t for this damned leg I would be in that tunnel and away.

Hoping to away in the camper this year. Will depend on my shifts I guess.

Probs have seafood and duck as I only have a tiny oven. Will be lovely to be by ourselves for a change though.

OMG ... I've just realised, if we don't go away somewhere over Christmas (even in the UK) we'll be 'expected' to have Mum all day!

Sue ... why not have a 'holiday' over Christmas at your family's place then New Year at John's?

Where do you stay in Mazarron Mel? We used to stop at La Azohia a few miles along the coast, but I think that is closed now.

We usually go to Puerto de Mazarron, you can usually park in the large area near the weather sculptured 'cliffs' but last time it was closed for some event so instead we parked in one of the small streets leading to the beach, nice and quiet it was too.
