Surprised you managed to get a reply.
My wife filled in the online application for renewal (age 70) back in March. Then requested a medical form as she has sleep apnoea. Duly completed and posted back to them.
Chased them up in April to be told they had not received the medical form so ask for another form to complete. That never arrived so sent a letter requesting the same. Not heard any thing since.
I rand them in late April and actually spoke to someone who informed me if not a KEY worker then to just wait.
Tried phoning on various occasions and get an automated response stating of problems due to Covid. Recently tried to contact them and found their web chat is non functional,, email has been shut and now phone lines either faulty or engaged PERMANENTLY.
After 5 months,, their site now says : "YOU HAVE NO ENTITLEMENT TO DRIVE" when doing a license check so all this time she has been driving illegally is suppose.
Have got my MP involved as these people are just a joke.

edited to state my C1 license was due 28th July, sent if off and returned within 2 weeks valid for 3 years from 6th July

A bit of clarification please, is she having a problem with the SL1 medical form or the D4? I am approaching 70 and anticipate having to jump through the same hoops. My sleep apnoea was diagnosed nearly 20 years ago and has been fully controlled with CPAP since then but I am not sure what they will expect if I want to retain my C1 license.

For those who do not have sleep apnoea the SL1 form has to be submitted at any age as soon as sleep apnoea is diagnosed and can be downloaded at https://assets.publishing.service.g...ata/file/709773/sl1-medical-questionnaire.pdf

I also had to get my MP involved after having to wait almost a year for my license to be renewed following a diagnosis where I was advised to notify DVLA but that my driving was not affected by the condition. In their wisdom the DVLA rescinded my license and I jumped through all the hoops to get it back - the delay was so long I had to have the medicals redone (at my own expense as they were out of date) and in the end I asked my MP to refer them to the Parliament Ombudsman.

The complaint has to come via your MP and you may have to inform your MP that the service actually exists and then insist the complaint is made.

My license was reinstated with a week once the ombudsman became involved. :) Had the DVLA turnd round and said "no" I would have appealed via the courts but it didn't come to that.

She applied for her license in plenty of time using the online facility, but had neglected to let them know she suffered from sleep apnoea having been diagnosed years ago. After contacting her insurers to let them know, she was informed she needed to ask for a medical form. This was all before lockdown. After filling in the form she heard nothing so phoned and was informed they had not received the medical form so she ask for a replacement. That has never arrived despite writing to ask for it also 2 weeks later. We have both phoned, I myself actually spoke to someone to be informed they are only dealing with KEY workers. (this was during lockdown)
Recently I too had to apply for my C1 so booked a medical with D4drivers and sent off the forms mid to late June. I received the new license within a couple of weeks but the wife is still waiting. This week I decided to try and hurry them up but find they have stopped their webchat and email contact methods. We have both tried phoning but it is either engaged or gives a no connection sound, so it seems DVLA is in quarantine now.. probably best for them with no social contact available.
Today I emailed my MP who is now chasing them up.

Thanks. I was late informing the DVLA of my sleep apnoea many years back but did then receive a letter confirming that I was ok until 70, as long as my condition remained fully controlled. However that was during less troubled times.

Martin was told to stop driving immediately when he informed them he had been diagnosed. He was not even allowed to drive home from the hospital - which is 50 miles away and no public transport. His is all fully controlled with he CPAP machine. Even the specialist talking to the DVLA made no difference. It took 6 months and a lot of letters to have the license restored.

In future if we are unlucky enough to have a notifiable condition we will surrend the license voluntarily and then apply for a reinstatement when in the clear.

Mine is still coming up on their website as expired sent my application with D4 on 4th May.

On the D2 form there is a Conduct section that asks you to declare offences. Does this include spent speeding fines/endorsements that I incurred 50 years ago?
