Ducato Wing Mirror Protectors..Worth the money?

Yes definitely worth it. Was hit by a van coming the other way Sunday night. I was stopped and pulled up tight to the LH side of the road and still he hit me. Saved a very expensive occurrence for me. Certainly more expensive than the cost of the protectors. We bought the MH with them on, and very pleased they were pre fitted now. We have an A class on order and I'm wondering about not having mirror protectors on the new MH, when it comes.

Looking to get Funsters views on the value of Ducato wing mirror protectors. Do they provide a good level of protection? I don't want to spend on something that seems like a must have but turns out to be waste of money.
I think the vast majority of reports are very poisitive in relation to their effectiveness in a collision and offering protection to hedgrow scratches. I have the Mirrorguards made and fitted by the inventor as he lives in the next village. The plastic composit is thicker than some I have seen and well cushioned inside. Only going to know if worth the money after a clash with something.
Incidently the Mirrorguard Metalic Grey is pretty much an exact match to Fiats Artense Grey Metalic so look colour coded. Just put a couple of dayglow strips on them for visibility.

We have the Mirrorguards on ours and after we had a coming together with a BMW X5 in France which left his wing mirror in many pieces scattered over the road all I had to do was pop the lower mirror lens back in. Again in the narrow Lincolnshire lanes a bus came round a bend on the wrong side of the road and had a coming together with our offside mirror. No damage to mine but I have no idea about his as he didn't stop, presumably because he knew he was in the wrong.

Yes we have been hit by white van man coming the other way, and mirror just flipped in. Pretty sure there would have been damage if no protectors.

When we changed to A Class we used this local guy who was very helpful.

A figured that a new cover is only about a tenner off fleebay so I'd need to clatter it 14 times to break even. Not hit it yet in 30k miles so feeling smug..

It’s definetly got to be mirrorgaurds. I had the cheaper ones and they discoloured badly, the mirrorgaurds are still as good as when I bought them 6 years ago.

Genuine Mirrorguards for me too.
Had the off side one damaged by Spanish white van man.

At the NEC this February Mirrorguard man was selling them individually at £67 a pop. Apparently he only does this at the shows. Worth knowing.

Only two choices really
Get some now before they get damaged
Or
Buy some eventually to cover the damage

Needed an offside replacement after a coming together in Cornwall. Guard fell over the edge of the road to the valley below. Gave him a call and a single replacement in the post next day.

Great, he obviously needs to sell as many as he can!

Invested in a pair for previous van. Never got clipped. Been clipped three times with the Carthago for which there are no suitable protectors. They do seem fairly sturdy though.

Has anyone had any experience of the protection qualities of anyone else other than Mirror Guard?

I have the very next day after taking my new Adria Coral home first trip out a white van man clipped the off side mirror at speed
Without the added protection definitely a new mirror would of been required

This is probably the kiss of death but, I never had mirror guards and had one trashed mirror in 10yrs and 100,000km, cost to replace was €105 from Amazon, so mirrors guards on the new MH when it arrives, probably not...........

I learnt the hard way in Fort William last year. I would not be without them now, original Mirror Guard the only way to go. Trust me a new wing mirror is nearly a grand without fitting!!
