Hi, I had need to get my jack out of the m/h this weekend and found that I don't appear to have a jack/wheel nut wrench set anywhere to be found. It's a 2004 Rapido on a 2.8 JTD Fiat maxi chassis and we have owned vehicle for 2 years. So, I have now put my 3 ton bottle jack in the van and want the correct socket size to fit the wheel nuts. My largest socket is 21mm but it's not big enough. Can anyone tell me what socket size I need to buy please? All when nuts have the markings 3 F and R 8 on them. Also what should be the torque setting to tighten the wheel nuts up to? Thanks Richard

24mm I think. But then I have the higher rated PCD130 16" wheels on a 1999 Ducato Maxi. Most smaller vans have PCD118 so I can't comment. If that is jibberish pcd118 wheels are 71.8mm from each nut to its neighbour. PCD130 are 78mm apart.

If 16" wheels the socket size is 24mm, torque = 134ft/lbs which is approx 100Nm.

14" wheels socket is 22mm. 100ft/lbs = 75Nm
No idea for the 15" wheels.

when I got my jack and tools out to check if I could change a wheel I found that the wheel brace was totally ineffective at removing wheel nuts,
I went around to my mates garage and he removed it with a 30 inch breaker bar so that's what I carry now.
I have breakdown cover but its sometimes it nice to know you can do it yourself if you have to.

Thanks all for your excellent and very quick responses. I have the 16 inch wheels so I think 24mm is the socket I need and thanks Gus-lopez for the torque setting as well.

By the way, reason I needed a jack was that I drove my rear wheels over the top of my levelling ramps ( wet grass and front wheels were spinning a bit and then suddenly gripped!) and the ramps then totally wedged themselves between the ground and the suspension arms - couldn't move the van back or forwards. So, wanted to jack van up to sort the problem out and found out I don't appear to have a jack. Happily, friendly guy on campsite had a bottle jack and we resolved the problem.

i think your conversion is the wrong way round. 99 ft/lbs is about 134 nm.

Just checked the socket I use and it's 15/16" or 23.88 mm according to a conversation chart.
I always understood the torque required was 180 Nm on 16" steel wheels though ?
