Hello - calling anyone that has the (stupid) hydraulic headlamp height adjustment system as found on my Ducato 2 230 for instance.

Anyone managed to replace the system?

Hella list a part but says LHD and nobody stocks part number on the unit!

I know I can manually tweak the actuator on each lamp but I would like to fix it properly.

Open bonnet
Look where mechanism attached behind headlight.
Press and push and you will be able to make the headlight manually tilt.
THen you have two choices;

Wedge something in the tilt mechanism.

Take a spanner to the plastic capped metal bolt that points directly towards the rear of vehicle. Clockwise moves beam down I think.

Just had my MH at the MOT station and was told that the rules have changed in the past year and any headlight adjusters fitted to any vehicle must now work in order to pass the MOT. Just used to be those with certain types of headlights but now any fitted adjuster must work. As my lights were correctly adjusted the very nice man at the MOT station passed it even though my adjusters have failed (does help going to the same garage for numerous years). Spoken to a couple of places this morning and whilst some sites appear to say that these are in LHD & RHD versions it appears that that this isn't the case. I have just ordered up a Hella 6NH 006 393-087 from OpieOils (use there eBay advert if you need one as it is £10 cheaper then their direct website) and they have checked and there is nothing on the part, or in their Hella catalogue, that says it is LHD or RHD. They have been selling these for years and have never had anyone complain it doesn't fit in a RHD vehicle. They have also agreed, in writing, to refund if it turns out there is a LHD/RHD version and they have supplied the wrong one. I will get round to fitting it when we get back from Scotland in June and will do my best to take pics etc and post details of how many skinned knuckles etc it took to replace it.
The alternative is to adjust the headlights to the correct height but you now need to remove the adjuster from the dashboard otherwise it is still classified as fitted.

@SteveJ
Good luck Steve. Please let us know how they go for you.
I believe L and R are the same thing but can't prove it. Lancia also use the same system.

Just about to head off to the wilds of Scotland (perfect timing NOT!!) Replacement has arrived and I've had a quick look at it and there is definitely nothing about it that could make it LHD/RHD specific. Aiming to be back at the end of May so as soon as I've taken the cab seats out (off for reupholstering) I'll get on with replacing the adjusters. As per usual no fitting instructions so will be trawling various Fiat forums and the wonders of YouTube for some hopefully useful advice. I'll take as many pics and notes as possible but I suspect there will have to be a lot of things removed just to get at them.
