We haven't gone far enough to see what sort of range we might expect for the Pilote P740.

Is 400 miles about right? Just after a rough idea.

Thanks

Would have thought at least 100-200 miles more than that. Doesn't your dash info tell you?

My understanding is that certain Fiats now are fitted with smaller, 60ltr instead of 90ltr, fuel tanks.
Reason is that on 3500kg vans it helps keep the weight down, so maybe first find out what tank you have.
Like Landy says, fill the tank and the dash should tell you expected mileage.

Similar size 130bhp outfit using vehicles own averages (not fill records and mileage) we reckon 425. This varies depending on journey obviously. We got more from our previous Autotrail 3litre model. Both same fiat auto box (comfortmatic).
The only time we would use that information is for planning, but we tend never to let it drop below a quarter full anyway.
Other than planning the only reason we keep an eye on the mpg is to give an early indication of any possible problems anywhere mechanically.
Not particularly heavy footed, and at the risk of starting another speed war we tend to drive between 57 and 60 on motorways (GPS speed not Speedo speed), with the odd burst to get past a lorry if needed and safe (we find windy conditions make us less stable and require speed reduction). Going from A to B if we can use a faster road for longer distances we do. It’s very rare for us to do 70. In towns or any other limits we stick to them.

The Satnag will tell you where to find the nearest filling station. Often much closer than you might expect.

I don't let my fuel guage drop much below one quarter. No desire to wait until it reaches the red zone and suffer anxiety. That's a good 400 miles possible without stress, at 29 mpg.

If I wanted very long range I would have kept that VW T4 camper which had a range of 1200 km / 800 miles at true 42 mpg.

Ours is a 150 Comformatic, 4500kg running at 4200 kg about 450 miles.
Also depending on what size tank, with AdBlue the standard tank has been reduced to 75 Lt (90)and long range 90 Lt (was 120).
We are pre Adblue with a 90 Lt.

We have just swapped from a Peougeot based MH to a Ducato. The Peugeot took us from Fife to Kent on one tankful. The Ducato has the smaller 60 litre tank and needed a couple of fills for the same trip.

Fiat fuel consumption is good (one of the few good things I can say about my Fiat experience).
How far you can get on a full tank will depend on how heavy-footed you are with the accelerator and the type of terrain you are covering. Also how close to empty to are prepared to risk going. Range can always be extended by taking a fuel can, of course, when you might afford to be more adventurous.
The range indicated on the dash will vary with the incline. On mine, it started to alarm with 1/4 tankful going up a 28% mountainside (taken in error), then showed 100 miles or so on the way back down. It's probably fairly accurate on the level, but I'd knock off at least 25 miles for safety.

The reason is probably due to the later vehicles having an AdBlue tank that takes up space rather than weight

Not really, many coachbuilders have been opting for the 60 litre tank for a decade now. Hymer started using them in some of their 2011 model year vans. Trigano followed suit a year later. It's really about payloads especially in the 3500kg vans. Pre AdBlue a 60L tank and no spare wheel gave the user a further 60kg to play with.

If I remember right, pre sale to Trigano, Auto Sleeper reduced the capacity of their waste water tank and kept the larger fuel tank.

As for mpg, I'm not bothered. We have a 70L tank in the Ford, used half to get from Harrogate to Strathclyde today. Will fill up again at Ardrossan Asda tomorrow.

We have the 110litre Fuel tank in our 3500 kg Hymer and the indicated fuel consumption on a run is between 30-32 MPG so we would probably only need to fill up at around 650 miles

nope I have 2017 ducato with a pitiful 60ltrs tank and no blue, it's about the 3500 k payload, or lack of.

Never rely on the Range thingy on the dash. Just a calculated average that is notoriously wrong. Last job... always come across out of fuel vehicles on the motorway with drivers saying..." it said I had 20 miles left in the tank"

Thanks everyone - we have our longest trip coming up, about 300 miles in all so I am feeling confident about the fuel now. I don't know what size tank we have, so hopefully that may be revealed at the same time!

In my experience I know the first quarter of a tank can get you a lot further than the last quarter!

2019 Burstner, 2.3 150 hp Auto 4000 kg. 90 litre tank, average 24 mpg over 10,680 miles. Comfortable 400 miles range between fill ups on known routes 350 on new ones. If abroad we look for supermarkets after 300 miles. Did try to see once and did 437 before light came on.

If you get down to about a quarter of a tank, you should have a reasonable idea of the tank size by how much it takes to top up. (y)

Well as you see the larger tank is an option as is upgrading to 3500 is an option and going back to my comment with adblue many manufactures are reducing the capacity slightly so the add blue tank can be added we do not have add blue but it is EU6 my VW transporters have a slightly reduced fuel tank to accommodate adblue.

One thing the dealers don’t always do as they are order takers rather than salesmen is run through the options or purchasers do not wish to add additional cost. An example is that on many Fiat MoHo’s the standard air conditioning controls can be seen rather than opting for the automatic climate control.

We have 180bhp 9 speed auto, 90ltr tank, 19ltr adblue 2020 with eco pack averaging 27 mpg should get better with age🤞range would be 500 to 550.

The 120ltr tank is not a option now with the new adblue ducato as previously said by Lenny HB the 90ltr is the option

If it has a 90l tank, that is 20 gal, at 25mpg, that is 500 Miles range
If it has a 60 l tank, that is 13.3l and at 25mpg, that is 330 mpg.
I think my van ( 2016 euro6 150hp x290) has a 90 l tank. I wanted the larger 120l tank, but iirc itwas dropped across the x290 sevel range as they needed to make space for adblue tank that was initially in the Renault and Peugeot models and more recently in the Fiats

Will a 120 ltr tank just retro fit into my ducato based autotrail 634 ? Although to be honest I would be happy with a 90ltr second hand one anybody know where I could get my hands on one?

Yep, not disputing it. Didn't and still doesn't stop them using the 60L tanks in vans across their group. Same for other coachbuilders too.

All this reminds me of the Japanese import I had in the Uk before moving here & which we travelled down in .It had a 45 litre tank, 10 gallons.. It wasn't long in to the journey that it popped in to my head that French fuel stations shut at night. :LOL:At 17 mpg within 90 minutes of filling you had to be looking for fuel again.
When first here i used to fill with fuel 3 x per week & if there was a head wind there was no way to get to Alicante ,90 miles , & back again without refilling.

2.3l 130 with Comfortmatic hauling 3.2 tonnes of compact coachbuilt - 60mph on the A361 the dash says 500miles+. 10 miles later @ 70mph on the A303 it says ~400 miles. I'd say your guess is about right with a bit of a safety margin.

I suspect its about choice when buying new.....or it may be its what the dealer thinks customer want and customers who by from stock rather than from options...just saying
