We have a Mercedes based motorhome which is Euro 4 and plated at 3800kg so can no longer drive into low emission zone areas. If we were to replate to 3500kg would we then be able to enter these zones.
I know it would eat onto our pay-load and increase our road tax but with more towns imposing these restrictions it's that or change our van.
Another advantage - no more medical for C1 licence.

I think the E4 will bugger you up. ☹️

The van is a Le Voyageur, LVX855, A class on a Mercedes base with the 3ltr V6 engine registered 2011 and is Euro4 and in the £165 per year taxation class which is Private HGV.
I was wondering if it moved into the lighter class - under 3500kg - would that effect it's status as far as the LEZ's goes?

I guess you'll still pay to enter the LEZs/CAZs because it's a diesel that isn't Euro6, but you'd have a lower charge?

I think your van is ~7.3m with a Merc v6? I suspect you're already pretty tight on payload at 3.8t.

Your road tax will go up, may be cheaper to pay the LEZ charges, depending on how often you go in and out.

We are in the same position, 2009 euro 4 with 3850kg but could be plated to 3500kg. It would then mean our daughter could borrow it as she doesn’t have a c1. At the moment we don’t need to go into any zones and will plan our trips around them. first step will be to put it on weigh bridge to see how viable it is, before rushing in.
