During my motorhome ownership with various models I have replaced, like for like, loads of these

No matter where I buy them from or how much I pay they barely last a couple of years
My problem is my gas locker has the same catch so although the habitation door one could be replaced with a magnet or spring retainer these types would look wrong on the gas locker
Anyone found a better alternative ?

I learned not to rely on them (for the cab door) and replace them every year.
You do well to get them to last 24months.
Fine for occasional use on smaller doors (like gas lockers) though.

On our hab door we use a tent guy rope over the door mirror. I might replace the catch if we want to sell.

Yup, useless. my Pilote door took a hammering a fw weeks ago when it was caught by a high wind and I thought it was proper knackered, but I managed to fix it, Phew!

I now use a small lever operated suction cup stuck to the body behind the door and a bungee round the door to keep it all in place hooked to the cup. It's strong, doesn't require any permanent attachment and the bungee allows some shock absorption in the system. Works a treat. I found the cup in the garage but I think you can get them for a couple of quid.

If it's just becoming worn rather than breaking a "lump" of Araldite on the male part solves it for a time. Then just do it again!
