Hi, our door bin is pretty much useless as nothing fits in it to make it easy to remove the rubbish. Has anyone found anything to make this bin useful?

Rubber cloggs for shower. Chemical for toilet cassette. Small brush and dustpan.

Excellent idea. A dog with pannier bags, one for recycles and one for other rubbish.

We find buying the right size of bags makes life easy. Finding the bags of the right size is not that easy though - ours come from Lakeland or Tesco. I've seen some people just dumping all their waste in the bin with no bin lining. Empty daily and wash out the bin. Wear a pair of rubber gloves and you can put all rubbish in the bin and sort it when you get to the waste point. Not all waste points allow non recycling waste in bins without being bagged up.

If you have space, buy two square bins and keep them under the sink. Leave the door bin at home to gather dust or spider webs.

Can you.stretch a large elastic band round it? If so you could use that to hold the back of a bag in place and for the front pull it over the front and tuck it in.

It's just such an awkward shape and has no lip at the back to hold the bag open
I use two small bulldog clips to hold the rear of the bin bag onto the plastic frame that the bag sits inside of. Keeps it open and easier to use but the bin itself is still not very good as it is quite small.

We drilled a small hole in the body of the bin at the top back, poke the bin liner through that and it holds it secure. Also a good place to store an open bottle of red wine without spillage.

Bought a Brantia bin and made a couple of custom hooks to locate it on the door. Holds a couple of days worth of rubbish.

Our door is binless instead thank goodness as they are always too small and/or a nuisance trying to get in/out with dogs, instead we have a couple of plastic 'pockets/shelves' which are used for dog stuff, fluorescent tabard etc. Our actual bin was in the drawer under the kitchen unit in its own bespoke housing (must be a Carthago thing!) but wasted so much space I removed the bin and housing and now have a nice big drawer, the bin I removed is now located in a step/stool with a lift up lid (it had a storage area in the top - see below before I fitted the bin) which I used to get up/down off the rear bed so it serves 2 purposes.

Our door bin has two ‘square buckets’ each of about 20Lts. We use one for recycling and one for rubbish. Being small we have to dip the rubbish so it does not smell. Full bags go in a box in the garage until we can find a place to dump them.
