So we have the Dometic tec tower which includes the useless top oven

My question is has anyone replaced the oven with a matching (looks wise) microwave, it has to match perfectly or the missus won’t have any of it and neither will I tbh

thanks for any help offered

Converted caravanner!
I can imagine that air fryers will get fitted instead of ovens in the future. Never had a decent oven in any our caravans in the past.

We've used our air fryer as much as the cadac this trip. Mind you an air fryer from Dometic would probably cost about £2000 and being German quality, will last exactly 2 years and a day. Before breaking one minute past midnight, the day after the two year warranty expires.

We take an air fryer as well with us but she wants a microwave as well 😉

I use my microwave more now than ever before both at home and in the van. Even Jamie Oliver has started to test his recipes in a microwave oven, in my opinion it's cheaper, quicker and easier to clean. Val is right, get one(y)

not long enough
Our tec tower was probably older than yours but when removed we confirmed it was one complete unit. The oven controls were built into the fridge 🤔🙁

Hoping yours is more straightforward

I don't eat Ping food either. I steam veg and fish and make scramble eggs and omelettes to name just a few things. Ping food to me is the ready meals where to stab holes in the plastic film and ping for 3 minutes, nowt wrong with them if you can't cook and are on you own though (y)

They used to do a microwave with a grill as well we had one in our last van it was a perfect match.
As for the surround you might have to ask Dometic them selves
You can get microwave ovens with a grill and a combination oven too. I had one years ago and it was brilliant at Christmas as I had so many peeps over I had to cook two turkeys.

I removed our oven from the top of the tech tower and lined the space and fitted a microwave I bought a black gloss finish door and fitted top hung with struts to hold it up when open.
It works well although the oven was a right bitch to get out as it’s all fixed together I managed to get a bar between the fridge and oven and snap the pop rivets holding it together and then managed to get it out in one piece😊

We have a top of the range Combi microwave at home. 95% of its use is for heating milk for coffee. I certainly wouldn't want one in a Motorhome.

Our Tec tower oven works well since I did a couple of mods but the grill is naff.

Yes I agree at home when my old microwave died I went for a basic no grill etc. one and it does everything I want it to do for half the price of my last one, but in the van anything is better than the crap grill and oven we have.

We use a Ridge Monkey for toast and I got our oven working well.
The oven in our van takes over an hour to cook a tray of frozen oven chips, not acceptable in my opinion, when I want chips I want chips in at least 20 minutes:ROFLMAO:
