Ok.the problem is ......the silly rubber grommets that the hob pan supports push into keep failing, if you lift the supports out to clean them, eventually they break. Well slice themselves in half rendering the supports useless. I know we still have warranty which I will be talking to the dealer about, but we cannot be the only people to have this issue???? So wondered if anyone else has had this problem and if there's a fix. I see spares on ebay but at 14 quid I think not!!!!

More than toes wet now!
Yeh, we broke a couple but found a spare one in a drawer so still one down. Managed to shove it back into the hole but it doesn't "hold" the pan rest.
We've put up with until now but interested to see what falls out of this thread.

The ones for SMEV hobs are no better. You can get them online cheaper than £14 each though! I bought a pack of 6 a while ago and just accept they'll need replacing every now & then.

Local dealer tells me they are one of the most nicked items from display vans, which is not on - no need for petty theft.

These will probably fit - £6 for 4 is a bit more bearable....

Ah, ours are different.

The clip bit snaps in two and you're left with the pin and one half of the clip.
Around £4.50 - £5.00 a piece + postage!

Looking closer the issue is poor design and materials.
The hole is razor sharp and there is 1mm or so wall thickness in grommet.
So when you remove the support the legs are forced against the grommet effectively guillotining the grommet in half!!!
Very poor and obviously a long standing known issue:rolleyes:

I'm going to look at a better solution going forwards, as we have only had the van since April they obviously don't last and replacing them regularly will irritate me no end:mad:

Perhaps if the dealers admitted there was a problem and gave them replacements at no cost they wouldn't get nicked!!

I knocked a couple up on the Myford from a bit of PTFE bar I had, much better than the originals, their choice of material is part of the problem.

This looks like a job for sugru.

It starts off like children plasticine but sets to a solid heat resistant rubber. I have used it for the lid of my kettle, should be ok for the base of the legs of a hob?

Great stuff. I always carry a pack of this and a pack of the Polymorphic plastic.

They do black and white versions
http://amzn.to/2tYkzmB

and colour versions.

Look on youtube for uses. Brilliant stuff...

Thats what I was thinking of doing too maybe make the holes in the hob bigger and allow more wall thickness at the same time

When I had this problem on a nearly new van a about 4 years ago I get in touch with Dometic and they sent me a pack with 12 grommets in free, of which I have still got 6, seems they have changed there policy now though
