Hi
I have a dometic 3-way fridge and when the thermostat is on his highest setting it is making a buzzing noise when I turn it down slightly and noise disappears has anyone else experienced this the fridge itself is working perfectly yours Martin

We have never needed to put ours on full so I would just turn it down a bit and not worry about it?

I’d like to update the thread, I’m staying on the same campsite as Martin and spoke with him a short while ago, it turns out we have exactly the same problem. Is it a coincidence or an issue with the campsites electrics? My Dometic fridge started ‘buzzing‘ during the night, it can be stopped by adjusting the thermostat dial slightly up or down. It will then run ok for 20 minutes or so before starting to buzz again.
Can any electrical wizzes shed some light on whats happening please?

You need an oscilloscope to look at the campsite AC power supply. Maybe it's not a sinewave, but that would be very unlikely ?

Certainly sounds like a power problem if 2 fridges have started doing it on the same supply.

I thought the buzzer identified a drop in temperature, for example if the door is left slightly open. If this correct then it does sound as if the power to the fridge is inadequate and hence a drop in temperature is setting of the buzzer, even if the door is shut correctly.

We have a fridge thermometer that’s saying the temperature is not dropping. We think the ‘buzzing’ is coming from the processor board behind the dials.

I don’t think they mean the temperature warning when door open or temperature goes up, ours beeps when that happens not buzzes.?

We're on a site in Sanluca de Barrameda Southern Spain.
The hookup is only 3amp, so we're only using it for charging, but the point I'm making is that the voltage supply is all over the shop: dipping from just over 200v to less than 160v. The voltage from live to earth is dire: 111v.
The Sargent Unit shows a polarity fault and even fitting a polarity reverser doesn't correct it. My 13amp sckt tester shows polarity and earth fault.
If in any doubt, re the f/f noise, I'd switch it over to gas,,, they (f/fs) are hugely expensive to replace,,,
It isn't worth risking,,,
If in doubt, turn it off.
Best regards James.

Thanks James.
Both of us are using a polarity reverser. I’ve also used my socket tester today and it’s showing three red lights so there’s no fault at the socket.
I am concerned about damaging the circuit board if the voltage is all over the place, so will switch it over to gas.

As the thread starter I would like to add just fitted yesterday a sollatek voltshield Avs30 appliance guard that was before the fridge thermostat started to buzz could not believe Neil had same problem the next day
