Anyone have any ideas what could be the probelm with our dometic fridge/freezer. When on 12volt while driving there is a buzzing noise coming from it. Changed the control panel but no difference does not do it all the time. Fridge works fine on gas and electric

Changed the whole control board still doing it

.......there is a buzzing noise coming from it.
Can you pin down exactly where/what it's coming from? From the fridge control panel? The back of the fridge? Shelf vibrating?
Maybe remove outside vents and listen to try to locate the noise.

Difficult! One thought - does the fridge actually cool on 12v? Though maybe difficult to tell! It certainly sounds like a relay - sounds like a relay that's energising, then shorting the supply to the relay so de-energising, then energising again, etc. So I'd look at the wiring - if it's buzzing try waggling wires/cable looms, see if you can get it to stop/do it. You say 'while driving' so with vibration? Or just with engine running?
Also, found this on forums.motorhomefacts.com from April'11: "My fridge works fine on 240v and gas but has started to "buzz" when on 12v. I know it is not the circuit board located behind the control panel and have now been told that it could be the heating element or the power supply from the alternator." from someone in Peterborough looking for a local fridge service place. The alternator's an interesting thought! But the fact it's intermittent doesn't sound like alternator to me - but again the cable from the alternator could be. Can you get a multimeter on a 20v DC range on the supply to the fridge and see if it's a fairly steady 13v-ish? And you could try replying to their post?! ( Link Removed )
Anyway, good luck, intermittents are the worst!!

That sounds like it could have been nasty, so glad your neighbour was able to help.
