Domestic RMDT8505 tower fridge freezer; faulty burner.

This might help you get by if you have a dodgy fridge burner. We just got camped up at Stow on the Wold after a fab 3fff rally at Drax. Allison said what’s that popping noise coming from the fridge vent. I pulled the vent cover off and thought all that was needed was a little brush off and blow out. No couldn’t be that easy in this heat could it The burner had burnt/corroded at the jet end. Well after a bit of cleaning etc it was far worse it was struggling to light, Great I thought what now, well tin foil I thought that might just get it working enough. It worked see photos. The cover that’s over the burner just pulls off and there’s a small torque screw holding the burner in place. Once off just wrap some folded foil around and refit. Fridge nice and cold again for now. I’ve found a new burner unit for about £55 online or if anyone has any info on a cheaper one or how to fix the old one that would be great.

We've just come back from France and had problems with the burner not lighting and subsequently having to throw away food as it went 'off' in the Fridge/Freezer the same as yours.
I took it to a recommended Garage near Amiens and they replaced the three items shown in the pictures.
It cost about £85 pounds for the parts + labour.
It was an emergency and being in France there was little chance of doing a self repair that would last very long.
I realise this doesn't help you but I thought I'd let you know it's not just a one-off with these fridges ….

Worth checking how the igniter & flame failure wires are routed. On our last van we had the insulation rub through on the burner so the ignitor was sparking nowhere near the burner. We were in Greece at the time, a quick fix with some self amagimating tape which became perminant.

I think thats pretty reasonable. I replaced all of that before our last trip and the best price I could find then was £92. Ive since had to replace the GV100 gas valve as well ( another common failing) at £137.

Please be really careful of a carbon monoxide build up. If the burners aren’t performing correctly they can churn out masses of the stuff.

Unlikely on a flame that small but please make sure your alarm is working.

Interestingly, we had the rectangular one and it wasn’t getting the fridge cold enough. Changed for the round one pictured the second post above and been fine since so make sure they fit the right one.

Snap, and to my Dometic RM7605 F/F spares, I have just yesterday added a replacement gas valve and combustion fan, for our ALDE Compact 3000 boiler............just in case.
