Rixen Kaul make some nice front baskets with their Klikfix attachments, they do a dog version as well. How heavy is the dog ? Personally I wouldn't want a dog heavier than 5kgs on the handlebars.

She is 7kg, I thought of adapting a normal wicker basket and making a frame or something to attach first.

You might want to try adding an 8-9ks shopping bag on the font just to simulate having your 7kg dog and the basket on there, it's not for all people having such a weight on the bars and it really depends on your bike set up. Easier with a full size wheeled bike vs a 20" wheel bike for stability.

We have used this trixie front box for Billie Boo, she loves it, does make the steering wobbly at low speed. Easy to fit and light with no dog in it, pockets for treats and water.
