Hi, I am restoring an old AutoGo550 Rascal Mobility Scooter. I want to replace the connector on the battery pack that connects it to the scooter. I cannot find one, mainly as I don’t know what it is called! It has 4 female spade connectors arranged around a female locating pin. It connects to 4 spades and the pin. The pin has no electrical connection. The 4 spades are 2 pairs connected together so is only really + and - .

Does anyone recognise this and/or know where I can get one?

If you can find or adapt the spades, say normal car ones. Solder crimp wires on. Mask up the socket. Force spades through masking tape then gunge the whole lot together using MilliPut or similar. You own DIY plug.

Can you get in behind it to find out what it connects to and to re-wire? You may end up replacing it with your own socket.

Could this be the same thing

Might be worth contacting them
Thanks for your response. I had found that one but not clear if that is the make part that is on the scooter or the female part that is on the battery box. As you suggest I will contact them. It’s a bit pricey!

Thanks for the suggestion. But I think it would be safer to change both plug and socket with short trailing leads. I would not have to worry about the alignment then. The reason I don’t really want to do this is because I have 3 batteries and scooters, and I want them to remain interchangeable. It looks like a RS part, but I have no idea what to search for in their catalogue!

Thanks. Yes, it is held in place by2 simple screws and is easily accessible inside the battery box. If I cannot find it I could replace plug and socket ( see my response above)

If the other end is just a +'ve and -'ve connection to the battery, then all the fancy pins might just be so it works either way up. If I wanted to keep it cheap, I'd be looking at bypassing the socket and replacing it with a water resistant connector of a different type.

Pictures a bit rubbish but...
Thanks. Yes I found that. That is the male part. I am looking for the female part that connects to that

Thanks everyone for all your help.

This really is a fantastic forum for getting good advice quickly! Never fails to amaze me!

Yes I could replace plug and socket on short trailing leads, but I have three scooters and 3 battery packs. Hope to have them all the same.

Looks like a Cinch Jones connector of the 60's.
