I prefer WilllH's answer, or perhaps the alternate misuse is to use the button and ignore payload. :giggler:

DavidandSally is correct that it is the Hill Assist for the Comfortmatic (Fiat's sort of robotised auto). Pressing it will tell the gear change system to try and rev a little bit higher than in the standard mode. That may help negotiate some hills and gradients where otherwise the system wants to change up a gear a bit too early. Might not be very helpful when a vehicle is empty but given the motorhome is often close to the max loadings the weight of the vehicle needs a bit of extra oomph on some occasions to get somewhere. It's one of those buttons to experiment with when driving to find out when it does and doesn't seem to make a difference.

It changes the Flux Capacitor. Engage and see what happens at 88 mph! 👍👍

I thought it meant giant hot water bottle on board mode.

If you want a detailed explanation you will have to read a Prof Cox "quote"...ish
"Its like when all the stars are slowing that the engagement of a certain button effects the forward momentem of the stars into a quantum fishure"....

If a Spanish person visited UK and said (in Spanglish) ‘I have an exemption here from my doctor in Spain, so I’m exempt your rules, oh btw the little badge is in Espanol’ I think I would object.

Rob is right, I actually used mine last week over the snake pass, in our NTU motorhome, made a difference re gear changes not kicking in too soon.

No its not it is what Fiat describe as the "Up Button" although your description of what it does is correct.

The "Hill Assist" button is next to the Traction Plus " button below the heater controls.
I stand corrected on the naming. Yes it is "up" and it keeps the revs up before changing. ;)

The Hill Assist thing is almost a waste of time. It's supposed to hold it in low gear to give you engine braking on a steep descent. But in mine, if you got too fast, even with added braking, it jumped out of it and changed up removing the desperately needed engine brakes on some of them windy up and downy Land of the Bitey Midgey narrow things that pass for roads somewhere way up north

OK, terminology thing. I use it in hilly areas to give more gear changes and hold gears longer, particularly when towing.
