We will give serious consideration to not upgrading the motorhome now (we had planned to uprgrade/change our motorhome at the end of the year).
However we are not as confident to utilise our cash reserve’s especially as travelling about in the motorhome was the prime objective.
Anyone else putting plans on hold because of the current world situation of illness and slowdown of business.
Sorry if this is a bit quick of the mark and I know the first concern is to ensure we combat the coved-19 but the mind goes into overdrive when it’s not stimulated.

We've stopped our drawdown pension so that there are funds for the future. We'll be living on our rainy day savings for a few months and be careful were we spend money.

Mr Porky

We had no set plans to change the MH but we were planning on going to see some factories and visit some for sale in Germany on our travels through there, but even that is not possible now.

The economy and finances are not a consideration for us as our income is secure and almost all our savings are in cash, and able to cover a new/nearly new MH.

I consider we are one of the fortunate ones, but I had planned it to be that way in terms of expecting a market crash at some point, but not for this current reason.

With my holiday plans evaporating by the day and refunds being offered, maybe my imminent penury has been staved off. I sure shan't be living off the interest on my savings though and the market crash will eventually recover. Most of my investments were made when the stock Market was struggling in 2008 and I've had good returns since then. "Markets can go down as well as up...."
SORN some of my vast fleet of vehicles (!!) and dig out my Honda 125; job's a good 'un!

Our income is fairly secure and have a bit in the bank so no worries for us. Both daughters and hubbys in reasonably secure jobs but that may change so we may need to help them out so extension plans on hold.

We were in the market for a new van after this damn house is eventually gone, (long story). Now having second thoughts I must admit what with all that's going on and then there's the exchange rate issue to rub salt into the wound. Must be patient and learn to sit it out and wait I suppose.

Not really spending a penny at the moment, (A class plans well and truly shelved) I no doubt will be paying my staff whilst we get through this and going by this week, our business has dropped by 90%! if it goes past three months it will be stitched up bank loans until we could get to a position to sell to the richer competitors.......but hey, every small business is in the same boat that has no paddles so unless we get murdered by the big boys, we are on a sort of level playing field!

No mortgage or rent to pay. Savings in NS&I bonds. Dabbling in stock market, made £4250 on Kier.L shares so far by short selling. Still buying Kier but now started with Stobart who are showing an upward move probably due to increase business COVID related.

Having retired last summer, I went back to work in August, partly because I enjoy my job and partly to not have to worry about the outcome of brexit, had never even thought about a Virus! New van is on order, was meant for July/aug but doubt that now, it’s based on a Mercedes and I think all the German factories are closed.

I would wait a while there are going to be a lot of second hand ones flooding the market if the doom and gloom figures are to be believed. and new MH will be a lot cheaper as people will have to use their disposable incomes, I personal think the world has just had its big reset button pressed

We are both retired with no mortgage to pay and on fairly good pensions. Shouldn’t have to dip into savings and the lack of opportunity to spend should keep us solvent.

Our plans to travel to our place in France for the summer have been well scuppered however.

If the dealers follow the same track as the cruise agents then there won't be any bargains, certainly not in the second market.
The cruise travel agents are trying to sell cruises in the near future as if folks are clamouring to book. There are no deals going around as if there are deals to be had
I had a deal delivered to me that was exactly the same one offered several weeks ago , this time with the 'Flash' Selling fast!!! Yea. Right???
In the case of 'vans, there might be deals but they will be from the poor souls who have had to sell because this disaster has reduced the seller to penury.
That wouldn't sit well with me. Its one step up from the stupid selfish folk who are stripping the shelves.

Look at it this way.

If when I was working and took home £600 per week, we'd certainly be spending £200 a week of it on going out.

Therefore if I was still working and the boss said, will you take 33% pay cut, then it's not a real difference as there is now nowhere to go out to !

Having spent all my money on women and motorcycles (apart from a little bit I frittered away) I am still looking to to buy another motorcycle.

I'm a firm believer that the number of motorcycles you own should be N+1 (where N the number of motorcycles you already have) cos you can't take your money with you when you peg it

Be careful with Stobart in medium term
Proper candidate for going pop ( in the way that dynamite goes “pop”)

Yes, I get what you are saying.

The cruise agents will have bought cabins at the 'previous' price and will be trying to offload them.
However, who the hell is going to buy a crise for, say, January 2021, provide a deposit for an event of, to quote betting legislation, "An event of a doubtful issue.

Mrs Emmit and I had a cruise cancelled. The agent didn't tell us for over two weeks and then tried to sell us an "alternative," (their words,) at a price I could undercut for the exact same cruise by hundreds of Pounds.

They couldn't understand my Fire and Brimstone Emails.

Not a problem when you got nothing!!

just spent my last fewquid on tbags and fags!

now where’s the universal credit form? Lol
i lost it all in 2008 so at this time have nothing left to lose lost my part time job last week

Yes they've been in the shit since last year but price doubled after bank rate dropped to 0.1% and obviously increased haulage contracts due to panic buying etc.
I bought at 8.9p they can very easily go to 20p which would make my 11,000 shares net me 1100 profit. I plan to sell half to get my money back and leave the remainder to fate as they will be free

second hand values are static at the moment and in fact starting to fall, because the dealers cant shift new stock even with discounts

I agree.

Two 'Leisure' Co's have sent me emails telling me that they are no longer sending out further emails presumably (dangerous, I know) because they don't have any business.
One was selling cruises the other must have been french because their name was "Holiday Private" (translated. LOL)
