Our second night out .electric hook up on, tv etc stayed on but all lights went out.EC200 stated leasure batteries poor.and non responsive one torch between the two of us all night. Elictric heating working, fridge etc all good on hook up.I read on here to remove panel , unplug and it will reset. It did, what had i done wrong?are lights only ran off 12v, i got a five min hand over with dealer. I dont no what button on the panel i should have pressed so i pressed all of them.I have a reanult master Timberland Endeavour. Any help would be appreciated thankyou.

A picture of the panel will help those more knowledgeable than I

Thankyou, this is a stupid question but if you are on EH should the lights work of the elictric.

Im guessing you have both 240v and 12v lights yes? Then if the red button is pressed into the 'on ' position on the Charger /Control box inside the truck, then at least the truck should have the fridge working on mains electric and the batteries should be being charged. As regards The lighting circuit ...It is predominantly 12v so just check you have not switched off the charger and or the fuses have not blown. See the diagram in the link sent previously. Hopefully you will sort it ?

First thing - in the beginners section there are no stupid questions. We've all been there.

The way it works is, all the lights, water pump, heater controls etc all work off the 12V battery. That way, if you're not on EHU, everything still works.

Inside the EC200 will be a mains battery charger that keeps the battery topped up while you are on EHU. It sounds like for some reason it's not doing its job.

The reason could be very simple, like a switch in the wrong setting. Since you're a beginner, that's the most likely. But it could be a blown fuse, defective charger etc...

Others more familiar with the EC200 should be able to help better than me.

Almost there, what is the picture of the tap on the control panel,is it to pump the water into the sink?

You put water in the tank, switch on the pump, and run water through the pipes to the taps, shower and toilet flush, until no more air bubbles come through. The pump switch can stay on as long as there is water in the tank.

If you run out of water, the pump might run dry, which is bad for some types of pump. In that case you switch off the pump at the panel.

If you drain all the water when storing the MH for winter, turn off the pump.

Otherwise, in normal use, the panel pump switch stays on all the time, and the pump is automatically switched on when a tap is opened or the toilet is flushed. It stops automatically when the tap is off.

Amazing how many newbies don't read the user manuals supplied with new motor-homes and then wonder why they cant operate the services etc.

Unfortunately not all MHs come with manuals and even if they do they're not always that comprehensive, better to be willing to ask on a forum and get answers from those willing to give them, than have issues.

All new motorhomes will come with manuals. However, I stand to be corrected if you can name one or more.

Where did I, or the OP, say it was a new MH?

It was I who stated new motorhome, which you quoted and replied to. As an aside, Looking at the O.P. initial post and motorhoming experience, I strongly suspect there motorhome is in fact new.
You did say new but I had in mind the OP's motorhome which could be new or used ... perhaps the OP can tell us ... or not if she's been put off asking for more help ... I hope not though.

As suggested above, most of your internal 12v services should run when on hook up or not. I have two additional 240v lights that only come to life when on hook up.

The tap switch Might have two functions. The normal position should be ON to "energise" your water system. The pump will run a little while if water supply was previously empty and prime all your pipes - hence the suggestion to open all taps until they stop spitting. Some tap switched have a second position to turn on an optional external pump that can be used to lift water from a tank/bottle up into your motorhome filler port. I have the switch position but no wires or pump as this was an optional feature.

No need to be so smug. I used to write end user manuals for a living. Some manuals from motorhome manufacturers are not worth the paper they're written on.

Not the warmest of greetings to a new Funster. :Eeek:

Someone buys a new motorhome, gets a very poor handover briefing, but, full of enthusiasm go off for their first trip.
In all the excitement there’s no time to trawl through boring manuals.
I think we’ve all been there.

Welcome to Fun Bren360. Keep asking those question, we all have to learn and most of us on here are very happy to help if we can.

Richard.

Agreed! My post, whist including the O.P. was aimed at newbies in general and not specifically this new member.

Here we go op? I am a oap, my mh is 2008 , the dealer gave me a ten minute handover,a big pile of paperwork, none related to maintenance, so cam belt etc no clue, the original handover book the tells you about the countryside code ref dog poo etc,the LPG heater instructions, i used the elictric one.So far we have been away twice, 20 miles one way, and 20 the other way.not confident enough yet to go to far, i thank the kind helpful people on here, i am sure i will have many more questions.

Bren360.....You have to learn that there are some on here that will give you everything you need regarding help. There are others that like to take the "P" . You will learn who is what and where you need to be when it comes to advice . Don't fret when someone comes back to you with a derogatory comment. It happens. Just ignore and overlook the issue and plod on. We have all had to do it and we all still do!
We are here for you and will do our best to put you in the right direction....Even though you may feel that its like a minefield at times.....It's not honestly. Over look the one's that look as if they may annoy you...and just move forward and take no notice. We are all learning. Some just think they have learned a lot more that is all. They are no better honestly.

Hi and welcome !
Don't forget to make sure your boiler/heater's automatic frost valve is shut before you start running the taps, you won't be the first to empty your water tank onto your pitch while trying to get water out of your taps.

Hi Bren360 and welcome!

If this is a bit like talking to a child, I wholeheartedly apologise in advance...

A couple of things. I'm assuming that your EC200 control panel is connected to a small separate fuse/ RCD consumer panel (car like fuses on one side and it's like the one you have at home on the other) and a black CBE battery charger about the size of a paperback with a clear button in the bottom right hand corner next to a small yellow warning triangular sticker?

If yes, ok... As a starting point the black box battery charger button should be lit orange when on hook up, if not press it... if it changes colour your charger is receiving power to serve your leisure battery.

If not, a fuse has probably blown which in 99 cases out of 100 is a simple fix once you determine which one it is, they're standard automotive, multi coloured, red, blue and yellow mainly in either transparent or solid plastic, about a cm wide with a small metal straight or wavy strip. If you find one with a broken strip, that's the one. They can be hard to extract but persevere and you'll be fine.

If none of this is the problem, do you roughly know the age of your leisure battery? They last ok but if it's the original it could well be damaged or just at the end of its life. They're usually in an accessible place so should be easy to replace although can be very heavy. Be sure to choose an appropriate leisure type, they're readily marked and be sure to opt for the appropriate power... like for like would be best.
