I heard yesterday (from a fairly reliable source) that the refineries and filling stations are being picketed in France, due to the rise in fuel costs, particularly in the north. This, apparently, has resulted in long queues and shortage of fuel. Can anyone either confirm or refute this, please? Thank you so much :)

It’s probably a rumour started to stop you from using your ‘van - they’ve tried everything else (damp, etc!););)(y)

Is fuel being rationed in France? That was hopefully just a rumour that I heard and worries us about booking a trip in the Summer

Just returned from a trip around Normandy. As said Diesel is over €2 a litre but supplies are plentiful. There was a road blockade in Cherbourg - both roundabouts in La Glacerie a week ago by fishermen due to the increasing fuel costs but there's been nothing since.

Filled up yesterday in Berke with no problem. Only problem we are having is finding room on the aires. I think the whole of France has headed for the coast for the weekend . We are inland in St Saire at the moment and that is busy now.

I thought you lived in France, so you are likely to have a better idea than us on the other side of the channel.

Not really. I live in Southern France and haven't been up north for a couple of weeks. This is supposedly a very recent thing. If I had the answer, I wouldn't be asking.

Spoke to my son in Paris earlier and he never mentioned anything.

Thank you everyone. Seems like this might be an incorrect rumour but I wanted to check before we set off, in case we need to carry fuel :)

There were a few disruptions towards the end of last week but no shortages or queues in Mayenne, but the price has gone back up to €2.06 per litre.

Gaspal app has been working well for me, and had no problems up to now. Currently at Bonneval.

We were blockaded in Cherbourg on one of our Motorcycle tours……HGV drivers on strike.

We approached the Police, in front of the barricade, trying in my best (poor) French to find out when we would be able to get out of the town. ‘Impossible….5 o’clock today’ (this being 9.30 in the morning) was the reply in good English. I thanked him and returned to my bike and my wife, who had stayed on her bike.

I told my wife we may be stuck here all day, to which she replied, ‘No we won’t, I’ve been watching the locals follow me’……

We were out of Cherbourg in a no time at all. (y)

Ah, but the op is from southern France and if he can’t get diesel up north he might decide to go to Spain 😜

And I'm also a girl :giggle: No choice on where we went. We were definitely headed for the UK but thank you for your help, anyway :)

Diesel Price in Hesdin 1.80euro- there does not seem to be any problem with supplies (been here 3 weeks)
