The most common problem is the glow plug fails.. They vary in price ( a lot ) but are an easy fix.
Locate it, get the heater fired up while checking for voltage from a known good earth to the connector using a multimeter

Alternately remove the wire from it and check it does not read open circuit using the Ohms range on the meter.
If you do not have a meter and do not want to wait on one being delivered, Halfords have a reasonably priced selection :-)

If it's a Webasto they can be connected to a laptop by a service agent and faults diagnosed but you could try rebooting it first. Take all the fuses out, there should be three, then replace them, putting the smallest in first. Check the fuses while they are out of course. :)

Make sure you have more than a quarter of a tank of diesel or wont work.
Beat me to it. Lorry night heater would not work if less than 1/4 tank. we always diesel`d up before knocking off, so the timer would bring the heater on and warm the cab before start of shift. Neither would the Winnebago Generator fire up if the "gas" level was below 1/4.

Just having one fitted. Do they take power from leisure batteries or engine battery?
I think it would be the leisure battery, but if it's a new installation ask them. I wouldn't want it wired to the vehicle battery because is it is on overnight it could drain the battery

Thanks you. That was my thought. They rang to say it will be ready this afternoon, so I will ring them first thing.

As others have said, ensure that the voltage is good, try with the engine running. The minimum fuel level will be at what ever depth Autosleepers installed the feed pipe in your fuel tank.

Carwoods at Smethwick did repairs on a Eberspacher heater for me some while ago, I don't know if they also do Webasto.

Otherwise it may be worth a word with Bowers at Stoke on Trent https://www.bowersautomotive.co.uk/Breakdown_Heating-Systems.htm They have also done warranty repairs on Eberspacher for me and are also Webasto dealers. They have also supplied new ones for me.

Do anyone know of webasto engineers in Hampshire

We have just collect ours from Automotive Electrical at Mirfield. Not having used them before we were a bit hesitant.
We reckon we have found a company who are as good as SAPs, but for a different job. They have done an excellent job. The heater is tucked away in our false floor and positioned not to take up loading space.
No connecting in to any available 12v cable. They have run a cable under the floor all the way back into the garage so it has its own fuses and supply. It is quiet and very quick to reach temperature. We have 2 outlets,
One facing the front the other into the kitchen, we just need proper cold weather now.
