This plate you used buddy what area did you use and would self tappers be best
Also the silent pump you bought if I bought this off you did you say it needs to be higher then the heater or the diesel tank ?
Would screwing the box under the van let’s say on the wooden floor be ok if the diesel heater is on the bracket same position you used
I’m trying to plan how to get the plate secured for the heater

Mine is bolted to the side of the rear chassis extension using M6 rubber well nut to stop vibration noise from being transferred from the heater the "L" bracket to the chassis extension to the floor of our van.

When I was using the silent pump, it was mounted higher than the tank and higher than the heater. Your best emailing James Browning-Smith the designer/manufacturer with your intended mounting position to get his opinion on the optimum mounting position for the pump.

If you mean by "box" the silent pump, then yes as I had it screwed to the underside of the floor of our van.

£90 including postage, they were £130 when I bought it. The pumps normally come with no connector to connect to the heater pump cable, so I have fitted a connector so you can just plug the pump straight in without having to cut and join wires.

Why did you stop using it
I was having problems with reliably calibrating the pump.
After speaking with James it appeared that the problem was likely to be that his pumps are designed to use diesel whereas I always run my heater on home heating oil which is thinner than diesel

Forgive my ignorance but are these heaters being used to save on gas? We are fortunate to have a fixed gas tank as well as a bottle so simply use the standard van heating!

Yes buddy so you don’t have to go for a lpg top up too
I have a lpg conversion too but a diesel heater is so cheap to run and so warm
You can have the gas just warning the water and cooking

I was never interested in a diesel heater until a friend got one
They are fantastic in winter in my opinion
I’ve gone ahead and made a purchase yesterday to fit myself
Now ideas to get the bracket in place 😂

So what are the figures then. Cost per litre of diesel is getting on for £2 - cost for lpg is much less than that! Diesel heaters presumably use less diesel to produce the heat than lpg?

That's one of the main reasons that I fitted a diesel heater.
Our factory fitted Whale blown air heating system eats gas like it's going out of fashion plus its heat output is very poor along with being very noisy.

Ours is a factory fitted Truma blown air (and water) heater. Haven't noticed it being particularly noisy, but then I haven't heard a deisel heater in action so have nothing to compare with.

Ive recently fitted a diesel heater to my VW T6.1 fitted it underneath with a stainless steel plate and warm air outlets front and rear of drivers seat air intake through drivers step, I’ve had it running with a gallon can of diesel as I’ve got over half a tank of diesel that I need to use so that I can lower the tank and fit the fuel stand pipe then it’s all finished.

Long time
I’ve fitted mine underneath in a metal/plastic tool box between the spare wheel and floor, I made brackets that mounts it off the spare wheel mounts and have it turned 90’ due to clearance issues with the spare wheel.
I’ve got the fuel pump mounted on a rubber bobbin and that seems to work , noise wise.
Diesel heater works well in it’s position and is quiet.
No problems.
