devon rally

hi,
i am thinking about holding a rally at my local rugby club, with bar toilets showers etc, in Tiverton Devon next April or May, before organizing it i thought i would ask if you funsters would like to go to the rally.

Tivertons a nice place and depending on when its calendered would love a few days there. Please say away from bank hols and school hols. Cant stand sitting stationary on the m5.

Hi Chris - it's great to hear that you might do this
Few things to perhaps consider:
April may a bit early in the year for some especially if camping on grass but if you do choose April for us the last two weeks aren't possible.
May is ideal but would try to avoid a clash of dates with other rallies & meets in the same area - see like our Norden Farm Meet 9-13 May (although many will extend these dates either side) to maximise potential numbers. Think that Emmit mentioned a Topsham rally 16-23 May (?) so might be an ideal follow on from that if 23 May onwards making it more worthwhile for Funsters to travel down South.
A popular show in Stratford https://adventure-overland-show.com/ with camping starting on 31 May so again 23-30/31 May could mean that Funsters do a 4 week tour (Corfe Castle, Topsham, Tiverton, Stratford) which is usually desirable.
Depending on dates we might be interested if you need help marshalling (if it's a large rally) but won't be offended if you already have your own marshals. Lots of us on here who have run rallies before can help answer any practical queries (if you need that) although apart from safe spacing you have some choice in what you are happy to do.
However, feel free to ignore all the above as just my thoughts!

love tiverton. stayed in the bedford a couple of times when on my motorbike tours.
as for rally, cannot confirm any plans until we know we have a truck.

I can confirm that only yesterday, we received confirmation from Topsham Rugby Club, that our dates will be from May 16th to 23rd 2022

Depends which way you go…… for us it’ll be M4, M5( ) and A361…..so not too narrow

A meet is where you book & pay individually direct with a campsite on licensed pitches like this https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...-may-2022-with-early-booking-discount.245000/ for the same dates sometimes with a discount whereas a rally is where you book with & pay a named marshal who organises camping under Fun's camping exemption license (each pitch must be booked by a paid subscription club member) so it can be in an area where there is no long term planning permission for camping such as a farmer's field. There's a lot more to running rallies but that is the biggest difference from the point of view of those booking & attending.
